Minny just re-signed Craig Smith, so does that make Ryan more expendable?

they now have Brewer, Love, Smith, Cardinal, Miller, howard, Carney under contract......do they really need Gomes?

I think so. I think Gomes will have to have a good year on a good team ( Celtics) so he can get a good contract.

Does the fact that Gomes is not that good of a player make him more available? Who would he play over Powe? Big Baby? He is too slow to play the 3.

We already have 2 undersized PFs in the roster. Why a third one?

Gomes isn't a power foward.  Sure he played that in college but he's an NBA small foward.  Plus he can shoot from the outside unlike Powe and BBD.  I wouldn't mind having Gomes come back at the right price.

Agreed.  The difference between Gomes and Powe and BBD is that Ryan Gomes recognized in college that he was going to have to be able to play SF to be successful in the NBA.  So he decided to stay his senior year and work on expanding his game.

He did so even more last year in Minny, I dont know if anyone noticed that he extended his game beyond the 3pt line last year.

Gomes would have a role on this team as the large SF or as a PF when the team wants to go small.

I think he would be a good pickup.  I am just not sure if the Celtics could get him with the T-Wolves able to match.

I agree.  He doesn't fit what we need.  Sure he could play the three, but he wouldn't space the floor that well and be a defensive liability.  At the 4, he isn't an enough of an upgrade over Powe and Davis to justify spending the money it'd take to get Minny not to match (likely the MLE or close to it).

If we're going to go the way of Boston retreads, I'd much rather see Delonte West who would stand as an improvement at the backup point guard position and a decent replacement to Posey/T. Allen backing up Ray.
