Anyone think a call was made to Kevin McHale about five minutes after Posey signed with New Orleans?

About Ryan Gomes?

Who has said he wants to come back to Boston...

Who Ainge was very high on?

Gomes isn't Posey but...he is a Glue type guy, does dirty work, spaces the floor well, has a decent outside shot, does all the little things and is a very smart player.

Perhps a sing and trade with TAllen or Giddens thrown in

Minny doesn't need Gomes that much anymore. They have Brewer and Carney, more true small forwards.

They now have Love and jefferson at PF and Center.

TAllen would be a good fit at back up off guard behind more offensive minded players like Miller and McCants.

Just a thought.

I would like it. Gomes is also one of those guys who helps you win games with the little things he does when he's ina complimentary role around guys like Garnett, Pierce and Ray Allen.

H'e the type of guy that could easily hit you for 20 when you're not looking because you're too busy with the big three.

Sign and Trade for Gomes or offer him a mid level deal in the $3 to $3.5 range?

I feel like it used to be Gomes / Powe duplicating each other as undersized PFs. Now we have Powe / Baby as undersized PFs.

Is Gomes a full time 3 now ... or still another undersized 4 that can play the 3 a little bit? He doesn't seem to be someone who could guard Lebron, Kobe and co like Posey. I may be wrong. He's definitely a good player, glue guy, etc ... but seems to be close to a more refined Leon Powe.

Yes, in a way Gomes is a more refined Powe. He did play alot of Small forward last year in Minny and his outside shot is pretty decent.

He wouldn't give that D on the likes of Kobe, LeBron, etc...but, he would create some problems on the other end for guys playing the three.

Not a perfect fit....but...

Danny said his goal was to make us better but not necessarily in the same way.

Maybe with Gomes we become even more of a power team, just hammering the ball under the basket...

I like Gomes but he moved away from his low game to mostly outside stuff. Seems to happen after some serious banging. The players start thinking carer time and body abuse.

Not another thread about getting Gomes   ::)

I'm waiting for the thread about a 3 way trade that gets the C's Delonte and Gomes.  :)
