Both guys are better suited to play Center.  Especially when Kevin Garnett is your power forward.

BBD is a borderline NBA player with marginal talent.
Really?
Yes, really.  Okay, maybe that is a bit harsh but BBD hasn't really shown me anything to suggest that he will develop into anything more than he is.  He has some skill relative to his girth but nothing that really stands out.  He is average or below average at handling the ball, jumping, shooting, and driving to the basketball.  He can post up but has trouble against taller defenders.  And to top it off, when BBD did well this year, it was a result of his hustle, which was not characterstic of his game coming in.  Will that last?  We'll see.

But like I said, average talent who is too short.

I agree both are just too short to play center. The Wes Unselds of the world are no more.

Wes admitted he has just under 6.6. Figure it out how he managed to have seasons with 18rpg averages??? Only 245 lbs.

Its an interesting thought.  I Definitely don't think Powe has the footwork to be a 3...and he is much more effective as a 4 anyways.  Davis on the other hand has the nimble feet, and skills to possibly be able to swing over there in certain situations if he loses some weight and works on his perimeter shooting.

More than this though, what I think you can expect from Davis though is playing a little more on the perimeter as a 4.  He can help to fill the role Posey had as the perimeter PF.  If he develops his shot a little more, and sheds some weight, he could be something in between Ryan Gomes and Anthony Mason.

TP.

It is so annoying to have all these bandwagon naysayers reply with one line.

"No way." "why does Denver do this."

Gave it some thought - I like that.

Would a 250-pound Glen Davis have the quickness to play the power 3 position on defense? His 14-foot jump shot was coming along nicely by season end. He looks like he has lost a lot of weight in today's picture in the Boston Herald. Or Powe? Of the two, I think a very light version of Glen Davis might make the better defensive player. Are they better than what's left on the free-agent market?

I don't think they're better, but of the two, Davis is the only one I think that could even be considered. At least he has the range for a long two. The league has learned to exploit slower, bigger 3's though. Bigger 3's are now 4's. Look at KG.

The problem with a power 3 is that you have to continually give them the ball to make up for what you lose on the defensive end. It worked when Bird played the power 3 because the ball was always in his hands and he drove the scoring both inside and out. Unless the other team's three could score from the outside, Bird had the advantage.

Baby could destroy a lot of those skinny 3s guarding him in the low post. However do you really want him to be the focus of the scoring? Baby can actually move his feet defense but he is still a foul waiting to happen with quick 3s. It wouldn't a good tradeoff unless baby is the offensive focus.
Both Baby and Powe can handle a switch to a quick 3 on defense but not as a steady diet.

The point of all of this is that you want the big 3 to take the vast majority of the shots or speciality shooters like House or the departed Posey. Powe, BB, Perkins, and Rondo can score as part of the offense but not be the focus of it without disrupting things. And with Powe and BB playing the power 3 they have to be the focus to makeup for the defensive mismatch.
