I know he doesn't play the same position or style as Posey, but he could be a great 6th man. We still need a vet backup PG and he can also be used as a SG with Rondo, our fast break would be deadly

There has been much speculation that he will be bought out and Paul Pierce seemed to think the guy could fit on a good team with other vets. He would probably be the best 6th man talent wise in the game and he already played with KG in the past. I know he is a bit of a nut case but you could give him a Posey type deal where there is an option after a year or 2

Give him a 3 year 18 mil contract with a team option after 2 years . He will still be getting paid a huge chunk of change from NY, so maybe he would take a cheaper contract who knows...

If he wants to win a title and prove to everyone that he is a team player then what better way to prove the knicks were wrong about him then by going to a division foe and rubbing a ring in the Knicks face.

Then with the vet minimum sign a defensive wing player like Ross from the Clippers just to play solid Defensive like Posey did for us last year

except for that whole quitter and crazy as a loon part of his game, yea he'd be a sweet 6th man  ::) mabey he can get to know one of our dancers in the back of his suv.

if were going to over pay for a shot happy gaurd, rather do it for pargo.

My interest in Marbury is dependent on a lot of little things.

#1 - does he get bought out?
#2 - Is he willing to come off the bench for Rondo? (something he's never done)
#3 - How do KG, Paul, Ray, Rondo and Doc feel about it?

If the KNicks buy out Marbury, if Marbury is desperate to sacrifice a ton to play off the bench and try to win a championship... and if Doc, Danny, Paul, Ray, KG and Rondo are all on board... I would be alright with offering him the vet minimum and cutting him at the first sign of trouble.

I put the chances of any of that happening at .01%

Only if he signs for the vet minimum so the league pays for some of his contract.

I would prefer Ricky Davis over Marbury (if we are intent on bringing in a shot happy guard who is a bit off in the head).
Celtics fan for life.

I would not Marbury to play here if he came free. It just seems like Stephon is drunk all the time. He loves drama, controversy, and himself. What a terrible influence he would be on Rage.

Marbury thinks he is the best pg in the league. He is not going to come off the bench.

Heres my idea, get house lue, marbury and miles, trade ray ray scalibrine for shawn marion

C  Garnett Perkins O'bryant
PF Marion  Powe    Davis
SF Pierce  Miles   Walker
SG Marbury House   Giddens
PG Rondo   Lue     Pruitt

I don't see much wrong with that roster, obviously im talking about marburry getting bought out and i don't know exactly what miles wants but we have a full MLE to chip away at those guys

Steph was separate to the whole Posey situation anyway so, no, I don't think it effects Marbury's Celtics chances.

I don't think it would take the MLE to sign Steph either. I doubt he has too many admirers that are willing to spend that type of money on him.

No.

Do you see him being happy as a reserve behind Rondo playing no more then 20 minutes a night?

my sarcasm radar has gone on the fritz with all the fake allen trades, if your being serious, then this is all i have to say to that trade;

considering ray averaged more time on the floor than anyone else, i find that hard to belive.

plus, why are we already catering to this morons need for playing time?

i mean, why even bring him in here. if your desprate to overpay a shooting gaurd, there's more stable ones available.

Yes. (I'm assuming we don't resign Tony Allen or Eddie House, and Giddens/Walker/Pruitt cannot be counted on for anything.)

Right now the minutes Posey played at PF rightfully go to Powe instead.

So you have Posey's SF minutes to cover, which go to Scal, Ray Allen playing SF.

That leaves you with the SG minutes Pierce and Allen don't play at SG to fill and Rondo's backup minutes. Marbury would be capable of filling those out. Alternatively Tony Allen could be retained with Ray Allen (or Pierce) acting as the defacto PG when Rondo is out, and Pruitt being used as a third stringer and situational option. (The team could also go with Giddens in the role I just described for TA - but that seems much more risky to me.)
