I dont know what I was expecting. Maybe I have to watch it again. I guess its tough fitting a whole season into 60 min. Also with it being a warner bros production. Is the Globe or anyone local going to produce a dvd? What did everyone else think of the dvd? (I havent had a chance to watch the bonus stuff yet, so maybe there are some good things in there)

i think ur disappointment stems from your uncertainty of what to expect.

personally, i thought the dvd was GREAT and think all celtics fans should own a copy.  between the actual dvd, along with the bonus footage, it was well worth it.

I agree. I was disappointed as well.  I hope someone else comes out with a better one.

I kinda now what your saying here. After the main movie was over I was left wanting alittle bit more. Then I watched the extras and it satisfied me. Especially the "I am a Celtic" portion, watching Cousy all welled up got to me. Only thing I wish they could have added was Game 6 of the finals. Still got chills and got all choked up AGAIN.

I'll be waiting for the box set.

Also, I think there's a documentary about this season coming out at some point.

Agreed I went to my local DVD store and they talked me out of buying it by showing me the 13 DVD box set that came out for the Miami Heat after the 05-06 season.  Apparently the NBA is pretty good at releasing box sets for championship teams so i'll bite the bullet and wait a few months for it. Plus I've already purchased from NBA.com all of the C's playoff wins.
I need to post more so that I'm no longer characterized as Tony Allen

  • You know my methods, Watson.
it's funny, but i actually enjoyed this championship more for my kids than myself...our oldest is 8 years old and LOVES the celtics - this group of players are HIS heroes.  the older i get the more i cherish the bird/mchale/parish group of my teenage years - they were MY heroes.

i'm glad they won, but i have no deep emotional investment, and the dvd would just collect dust as i'd probably have little interest in watching it.

i guess over time i've seen the game change, and watching the baseball all-star game last night made me realize how important it is for a professional sports league to embrace their history - i guess i'm kinda turned off by the nba because it's become a hip-hop league, and that's something that just doesn't interest me.

but i hope you guys that get the dvd enjoy it...

Please explain.

I was fortunate enough to attend the VIP screening of the dvd on monday night and the rep from warner bros said that on Oct. 28th they are releasing a box set with i think all of the pistons and lakers and game 7 cavs...there might be more on the dvds but that is what he said. OCt 28th is probably the tuesday that the celts open up the season and raise the banner.

yes, please explain. Also, what do you mean by the importance of a pro league to embrace their history? We just had a celtics-lakers finals, with history being thrown at us 24/7 from all angles and all the old-time players all over the tv and newspapers. How much more can you embrace it without demeaning the contributions of the current players?

Let's not make this a discussion of hip hop culture / the NBA.  If you want clarification of an off-hand, off-topic comment, please contact the member via PM.  This thread is meant to discuss the dvds.
