If you watch the whole game on NBA TV it is the same old Gerald. He has not added much bulk. He is hanging around on the outside for offense and then on defense assumes he can do the same. Does not even raise his arms to guard an inbound pass. He can do some amazing stuff offensively and was making some good defensive plays; but seems to be disinterested half the time. Chucked a number of quick off balance shots early in the clock - same old same old. This is while he was clearly the main offensive option on the floor.

you have zero basis for that statement and it is not a fair one to make.  GG was committed to Oklahoma State before declaring for the draft, so it looks like he could have gone to college. Plus there are plenty of places of higher education out there for kids who dont' do well on standardized tests (and colleges are looking less and less at those as well) - to assume GG is unintelligent because he's not a smart basketball player is unfiar and ungrounded.

It was a lazy telegraphed pass so I wouldn't give Gerald too much credit.  Still, I was like others curious enough to watch the clip.  Maybe GG will find a place in the AND1 league after Dallas releases him.  What a shame.

I just dont understand how so many of you so called die-hard Celtics can be mad at how Gerald played for us while a Celtic. I thought G.G. did a wonderful job for a guy jumping from H.S. to the pros in his 1st 2 years as a Celtic. He did average 10 ppg in only his second yr. Had a 30plus game against the best team in the league at the time Dallas Mavericks! and I do remember him turning the corner near the end of year 2 with quite a few 20 pt. outburst. As a matter of fact, he played so well it helped us win a championship because Minnesota saw what I saw & insisted he be included for us to get K.G. Thus #17 happened & yet the negative poeple on here still want him to fail even after the kid was distraught he had to leave a city he loved playing in. Only to go from Boston to a team minus any superstar & be pressured to become someone he was not prepared to become, a 20plus pts. impact scorer who didnt know how to be a team #2 threat. He scored well in Boston because you had to guard Pierce, Davis & Jefferson. Pierce & Jefferson drew double teams thus leaving G.G. in the corner & wings open for wide open shots & slashes to the basket for dunks. Kobe & Lebron are exceptions to the H.S. rules. Even Dwight Howard doesnt know how to score yet. He only dunks just like Gerald becuase he is a freakish talent & physical specimen. He still after 4 yrs in the league doesnt have the moves Al Jefferson came in the league with yet he goes unnoticed in terms of progress beacuse he lives on the rim. All in all just root for Gerald and give him the time he needs because Chauncey Billups was a underachiever even longer than Gerald is now. How do we think of him now? Billups is one player who scares the living crap out of us True Celtics every time he plays us!

Gerald getting too much credit?... Here on CelticsBlog?.. He gets slammed on about a bi-weekly basis . We can't even give him Kudos on a good play.

Well...  Gerald isn't very smart, or at least he wasn't dedicated to academics in high school.  Gerald had some academic ineligibility issues in high school, and actually failed the eleventh grade (in other words, unlike many 5-year seniors, he didn't do a PG year; it took him five years to graduate).

Gerald is an immature kid who hasn't shown himself to be very bright on or off the court.  He's coupled that with a poor work ethic.  It's too bad, because physically, he has a smooth jumper and tremendous hops (that was a heck of a dunk.)

After another less than impressive summer league performances, GG is shooting 35%, and still is looking for his first assist.

Guys with 3 years of NBA experience are supposed to dominate summer league.  Joey Graham and Dahntay Jones both put up 20 point games already, for example.
