Another good dunk, but the surprising part is that he set it up by playing defense and stealing the ball:

Too bad Gerald could not reach his potential with the Celtics though.

I hope he learns someday to do the little things, not just try to showcase his dunking skills. Remember those games in his 1st or 2nd season when he wasn't in the NBDL where he just put up a few spectacular dunks when he came in? We know he can do that, but obviously there's something else that's not adequate for an NBA player about his play.

However, this is the SummerLeague, so I have no room to speak.

Unfortunately for Gerald the game of basketball is about more than breakaway uncontested dunks in summer league games and winning dunking championships.

Remeber last year when it seemed like Gerald thought he was too good to play in the summer league (and his play and attitude definitely showed it).  I wonder if he still feels that way this year?  Getting dropped from the league for a minute and realizing you're not as good as you think you are should do wonders for his attitude.  You think he's grateful to be on a summer league team this year or still think he's too good to be there?

He probably is grateful to be there.

You can see that in the very first play of the game. He played D and got in the passing lane.  Yeah he fumbled a bit, probably so excited from getting a wide open dunk on the first play.

Either way its a good sign for those of us who like Gerald.

this is in the "celtics talk" section...funny, some of you guys just can't seem to give the wonder-boy up...

newsflash: he's not a celtic anymore, and this year he'll be on his 3rd team since leaving...

Newsflash -- the dude who posted it has exactly two dozen posts.  I sure that he made a simple mistake regarding the section he posted it in........many of us still do.  I am also quite confident that grayjonv and the others responding to the post are well aware that he's not a Celtic.

So, eliminating the simple mistake component of grayjonv's thread, what's the purpose of your post?

"Freaky" athleticism, wonderful elevation and hang time but not an ounce of "grey" matter.  It's so disappointing to see the potential yet realize that the basketball I.Q. and "fundamentals" are lacking.

Some e v e n t u a l l y get it, most don't.....

This is the problem with liking players that aren't starters in the league.

Everyone is going to feel the need to point out to you their obvious short comings because they don't care about that person and its fun to put people down.

If you don't like Gerald Green, thats cool.. that is fine! But why come on this thread and try to start **** with people who do like him?

Too bad you couldn't have a 16th roster spot to waste just for a guy like Gerald.  Not that you'd put him into any meaningful game, but for blowouts, say up 20 with 2 1/2 minutes to play, just put him in to watch him dunk.

Oh well, hopefully Giddens and Walker can supply some gymnastics.
