Dates: July 11-20
Location: Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion (Las Vegas, Nevada)

NBA.com will ultimately be covering the league, just like they did last year.

To watch the games live via online streaming, click the daily scoreboard link. There should be a link underneath the line score that says something like "Watch Live." I think they may be on NBA TV as well (not 100% sure), so you can also use that if you have it.

I want to see all of the rookies and whatnot, but the guys I'm most interested in seeing, in no specific order, are:

  • O.J. Mayo (Memphis)
  • Brandan Wright (Golden State)
  • Gerald Green (Dallas)
  • Danilo Gallinari (New York)
  • Kyle Weaver (Charlotte)
  • Ramon Sessions (Milwaukee)
  • Nick Young (Washington)
  • Brandon Bowman (New Orleans)
  • Patrick Ewing Jr. (Sacramento)
  • Julian Wright (New Orleans)
  • Amir Johnson (Detroit)
  • Reyshawn Terry (Dallas)

And of course it will be nice to watch some of our old friends: Orien Greene, Brandon Wallace, Brandon Hunter, and I already mentioned Gerald Green.

Oh, and Al Thornton and Rodney Stuckey will absolutely dominate this league.

Friday 10pm and 2am -- GG's new team vs Elton Brand's jilted team

Saturday -- reruns of the above games, and crappy WNBA stuff
Sunday -- 8pm and 12am --Celtics Finals victim vs the Griz (the Gasol Bowl)
Sunday 10pm and 2 am -- GG's new team vs the Warriors

Monday on, they are showing games all week, day and night starting at 4pm.

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
I'm looking forward to the Gerald Green/Shan Foster combination for Dallas.  It would have been nice to see if the Celts gave Coppenrath or Pittsnogle another summer league spot, if only for the fan reaction.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

I just looked at the scoreboard and I guess it starts tomorrow.  What league was it where Rose (Chicago) played against Beasley, and where CDR and Chalmers were going off?

That was the Orlando Summer league, which only consists of six teams (Orlando, Chicago, Indiana, New Jersey, Miami, Oklahoma City). That one ends tomorrow.

Any information on whether the games will be on archive again this summer? That was handy last year.

I couldn't find the Orlando Summer League games on archive that's why I'm wondering.

Orlando Summer League - Teams were Sonics, Heat, Magic, Pacers, Nets, Bulls.

CB32 beat me too it, ah well enjoy my ramble ....

It's an awful league and it's an awful league most years with mostly awful games.

The opener (opening day, second game) with Beasley/Rose was very fun though. Good game. Well worth watching. The rest? Not so much. Fairly poor.

Nets have no guards who can run the team so they're horribly disorganized and very ugly to watch. This despite a good number of talented players on the floor.

Ditto for the Bulls. Rose is sitting out the rest of summer league so there's really no reason to watch them now. You're just seeing Noah and Thomas struggle offensively like they do in the regular season.

Orlando have an awful roster. Only two players worth their salt in Gortat and Courtney Lee. Neither player is really imposing, both happy going about their business quietly so their team's play is really poor most of the time. They allow the bad players to control far too much of the action. Difficult to watch.

I only got to see one Sonics game and it was when Durant showed up for game two. They were alright. Seattle weren't that good in terms of being a cohesive unit (why they're not my favourite team to watch) but they just have so much talent that it didn't matter. The flow of the game wasn't the most pleasant to watch but if you're watching for Westbrook or one of their other main players then there's good stuff in their games. The game was a massacre with Seattle just having far too much talent for it to be even competitive out there.

Indiana probably have the best coached summer league roster I've ever seen (I certainly can't think of one that's been better). It looks like they've been playing together for months. The defensive rotations, the offensive execution, the fluidity to their play. Very watchable. Not a lot of NBA type names on their roster but the sum of their parts is far greater than their individuals. Earl Calloway looks good. Outside of that they're have been a few good performances but not sure if there's NBA talent there, need to see more of them as I don't know much about their players.

The Heat have been splendid to watch. Mario Chalmers is a joy to behold and he runs the team extremely well. Best point guard in the tourney. Beasley is a lot of fun to watch for his scoring and singing. Kasib Powell has looked very good and should be in the league next season. Lasme has a few standout athletic/defensive plays. Miami are very watchable. They're my favourite team out of the six by far.

Looks like the Charlotte team has a few ex-Celtic summer league greats - Orien Green and Brandon Wallace.

And, Brandon Hunter will be with the Knicks:

I'm boarding a plane for Vegas tomorrow, and I'll be covering a few of the summer league games and posting a blog or two for NBA.com's fantasy division.  I'm not sure exactly which games I'll go to, but I know I plan to check out Kevin Love and OJ Mayo on Monday night.  If there is an interest, I'll post some of my observations on here as well.

Who: The Orlando Summer League games won't be archived, but I'm pretty sure that the Vegas Summer League games will be on NBA.com.

Hello Gerald...

lol Gerald played with a chip on his shoulder last summer league? He looked like garbage. Ever since the second half of last year he just could never hit an outside shot.

I was thinking the exact same thing you were when he said that. Gerald was very disappointing last year in the summer league.

I'm just watching the game now to see how Gerald is looking and my goodness is that commentator awful. I feel sorry for Steve Jones next to him who's a great commentator. The awful one asked Mike Dunleavy about Fazekas, Marcus Williams, or Jordan starting in Brand's place next year ... Dunleavy with a shocked look on his face goes I hope that they're not my starting power forward next season. Steve Jones just started laughing, then intervened and got the interview back on track.

That point guard for the Clippers Mike Taylor looks very good. He'll be on the squad next year. Completely outplaying Keith McLeod so far. Fun game. Great start.

Disappointing showing on the archives. Only two games, both were the ones shown on NBATV yesterday (Clippers-Mavs + Lakers-Pistons). There's no games scheduled for NBATV today.
