According to Bill Ingram at Hoopsworld:

http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=9427

"James Posey is expected to announce that he'll re-sign with the Boston Celtics in the next 24 hours"

Great news IMO, if true.  Is this source reliable?  I'm not familiar with it.

I don't know how reliable the source is as I'm not familiar with it.  However his stories correlate with the rumors from ESPN.com Insider so perhaps he has some credibility.

Good news if it's true.  It would show a lot about Posey and his relationship with his teammates.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

Great news if the terms of the deal are reasonable. Good, but not quite as exciting if it's one of these 5 year, full MLE deals. In fact, if Danny caved, I'll be just a little disappointed.

I wouldn't trust hoopsworld too much. They reported a week ago that Maggette was signing with San Antonio so I don't think this means anything.

Let's just hope that Posey doesn't hog the entire MLE so we can still have $ to pay other key backup positions(PG, SG, & Big man) Tony Allen I think will walk to a team foolish enough to throw $ at him. If we land Posey, House should follow. Cassell won't come back if he can find a home on the Nuggets roster. Pollard is done. PJ Brown will likely walk. The Birdman will be a cheap relaible back up, so we just need one more vet PG and maybe one versitale player(Brent Barry)?
Can't stop, Rondo!

Cool. I'm sure both sides combined to a nice middle ground. Boston and Posey are a perfect match for each other. He is not valued anywhere more than he is valued here.

I expect to see 5 years at the 120% raise, or 4 years at MLE (perhaps with an incentive on that 4th year). Mostly likely the 4 yr MLE deal.

I'll be happy when it is official.  ;D

The teammate thing has to be a factor here. The thing where Posey hugged each of the starters before tip-offs last year was a clear sign that he has a strong bond with these guys.

Maybe Ubuntu will be the gift that keeps on giving...

I've advocated being prudent with the length of Posey's contract but either way, I am thrilled if this is the truth.

It will be interesting to see how the Celtics handled it because fan speculation on how to go forward filling out the roster really can start aagain in earnest until we have some contract details. A four year non-Bird's rights deal would be sweet.

I am not overly concered if a 5th yr is throw in there. this is the NBA where the tearm expiring contract is used in every trade. every 5 yr deal can be considered a 4 yr, with team option to keep or trade in the 5th.

WELCOME BACK JAMES!!!

Finally now that this is over the team can focus on shoring up the bench (again).  I hope it wasn't for the full MLE 4 years either.  I think the non-bird 4 years makes more sense.

If true, that is great news...would be very happy if Posey signs but hopefully not for full 5 years.

after reading the whole article I am a little afraid of the accuracy, he actually said this about emeka okafor.

"For the Clippers' sake they better hope the Bobcats match any offer for Okafor. The Bobcats might just see this as a golden opportunity to get rid of one of the worst draft mistakes in modern history."

15 pts 11 reb and 3 blks a game, the only mistake I see is Bill Ingram, lack of accuracy when it comes to Mek.

I'm as big a Posey fan as anybody, and I actually don't care what the terms are, as long as they bring him back.  But we should not get ahead of ourselves, as far as I'm concerned this is still just a rumor.

If the Posey thing gets done, I say next priority is House, then Andersen.  Giddens can replace TA, Pruitt can replace Cassell as basically the third string PG.  We should see improvement from Baby, Rondo, and Powe.  This team can be better than 2008.  First step though, bring back the core guys.

Doesn't Pose do this anywhere? I thought he did the same thing in Miami.

Regardless, I think Posey does want to come back. Would you honestly want to go to LA and play with Kobe, or to Texas, for a bit more money rather than play with GPA and for Doc again? I think personnel definitely has a factor in the ultimate decision here. Let's hope this is true. :D
