Didn't Ainge try to get him last season?  Anyone know why his name hasn't been mentioned as possible free agent coming to the Celtics?  He doesn't appear interested in going back to the Spurs.  Word is Houston has interest.

He seems like a good fit.  But I'm not sure about his defense.

Anyone hear anything about where Barry is likely headed or other teams that might be interested?  I'm just surprised that I haven't heard too much about him this offseason. He was really good for San Antonio in the playoffs, probably the only bench player that really played well for them.  He obviously has something left in the tank.

Thoughts on Barry?
"If somebody would have told you when he was playing with the Knicks that Nate Robinson was going to change a big time game and he was going to do it mostly because of his defense, somebody would have got slapped."  Mark Jackson

Free agent guard Brent Barry is likely going to sign a contract with the Houston Rockets.

He was being pursued by the Suns, but it sounds like they're going to end up with Tyronn Lue instead. The Rockets can offer Barry more than the Suns with their bi-annual exception of $1.9 million. As for the Suns, Devin Brown and Darius Miles appear to still be on their radar if the Lue deal breaks down.

I like Barry. To me he's an upgrade over House.

Brent Barry wants to come here about as much as his brother did.

According to this, Barry is going to the Rockets for 1.9 mil, and also it says Darius Miles (?) is working with the Suns lately.

I agree.  He shoots about as well as him, handles the ball significantly better, and has 5 or more inches on him.  The only real advantage you might give Eddie is that he's a better defender.  But Eddie isn't a good enough defender to make up for that.

If the Rockets don't have him inked yet, I'd think about Barry.

Exactly what I was thinking when I read this absurd notion.  To heck with that family and their underhanded free-throw shooting!

Good for the Suns.  Barry would be a good fit, and I would like to see them sign Miles to stick it to Portland a little bit (and because I think Miles' game is a good fit for what the Suns have tried to do in the last few years, and because I like that the guy is trying to make a comeback).
Celtics fan for life.
