So Kaman's great-grandparents were born in Germany, so this gives him citizenship ? I just got my Spanish (EU) passport and that is because my father was born in Spain, and no way would I play for Spain. Yeah its cool to play in the Olympics but for your own country. I couldn't imagine being on a medal stand not listening to the Star Spangled Banner. Will he even be able to understand his "countrymen". File this one under BS, I want an Olympic medal.

his great grandparents are German, and I believe he just got the dual citizenship recently, which I also believe was in order to be able to play on an Olympic team, but dont quote me on that.

I don't see many people complaining when Tim Duncan played for the US.

People should get off athletes' back for wanting to play in the Olympics, especially when they US is one of the main culprits in using players that aren't really Americans on their teams.

The US is so big, this stuff happens all the time.  Take a look around during the world cup.  Half of this country has allegiences to countries other than here.  We are a country based on immigrants (and thus millions of our citizens are raised in home with a foreign culture base) and we are too large to have the same unity and patriotism that most other countries have.

I cant blame anyone for wanting the opportunity to compete in the Olympics.  Kaman has the talent to play on most teams, but the US team is so ridiculously stacked there wasnt even the slightest chance of it.  So let him go out and celebrate his heritage for another team.

sad to say its true  ;D i mean Phils would have had an olympic gold medal if a certain athlete chose to play for his mother country rather than the US(of course financially he made the right decision)

If USA had not gotten possession
of the Virgin Islands, we (Denmark) may
have had a pretty good b-ball squad these days.
As it turns out, we suck.

Maybe Denmark can have Chris Andersen
in the future? We might suck a little less.
At the very least, we'll be a bit more athletic
and way more fun to watch  ;)

Did Kaman get an invite to try out for the collossal fraud that is the Olympic team?

I'm sure Kaman will be just as "honored" to play for the German olympic team as our patriots are to play for the US team.

I haven't the slightest clue why anybody would risk their futures to play in this tainted exhibition.

In a way, I agree that its BS that hes only doing this because hes great grandparents were german.  Thats too much of a stretch for me.  However, I do respect the man for wanting to play in the olympics.  We would have such a nasty team if our athletes respected and wanted to play in the olympics like the world does.

How about Dalembert, which recently got a canadian citizenship and will play for the canadian team.  However, he does have a reason.  He came from Haiti to Canada when he was young and grew up in the area.
Baby Jesus!
