Francisco Elson made 3 million last year. Do you think he would take a pay cut to come here?

He's 7 feet, 32 years old, and won a title with the Spurs in 2007.

I think it's a good idea, but would he do it?

We need to get more athletic, and The Birdman would fill that need.

That's not to bad.  Elson has a good track record coming off the bench for a championship team.  He fits the need.

I think it would be a good move. However I would find it hard to believe that some of the other teams that are title contenders wouldn't be willing to offer him more. Detroit, New Orleans and Cleveland come to mind. Especially teams in the East that realize the matchup problems the Celtics could encounter being so thin at the 5.

I think Elson would be a good fit, two years gives us time to give Semih Erden a look to see if he will pan out or not. I am just not sure if i would rather have a true C in Elson or a more athletic PF/C guy like the Birdman.

To me, there are already 4 PFs on the team (plus of course the small lineups)

There is only one C.

Go for the big C.  Someone that can bang the big boys of the league keeping KG off them.

That is a great point you make, KG works better when he has a true big man to allow him a less physical matchup. In Sota he was at his best with Ervin Johnson at center. What do you gentlemen think of Randolph Morris, I liked him in HS and at Kentucky. He is huge and has a decent offensive game. Could be worth taking a shot at.

I would prefer a substance free Birdman personally, but if he ends up like Vin and Tonic Baker, sign me on the Elson train! Birdman can play the center in this league and has the leaping ability to keep teams like cleveland off the boards. The size of that team SCARES me.

Elson is a better choice.

I don't think I could stand looking at Birdman's tattoos.  Very revolting.

Yeah, that many tattoos is a major turnoff to me, too. Call me shallow, but I don't think I could root for a team like Denver with AI, Melo and JR Smith.  :P I think the NBA should clean some of that up to help it's image. But that is another topic.

I hope we get Elson. Like RonJohn said, Cleveland's size scares me. Elson could guard Ilgauskas and Joe Smith, as well as D Howard, Sheed, and all of the bigs in the West.

  • The good ole days.
I like the idea.  He's a decently athletic guy for his size and can finish open looks around the basket.

There is this though.

Funny how nobody wants Powe or Baby playing C after they excelled there all year.  We only won 66 games with them as our primary backups, wouldn't want that to happen again  ::)

I think that one of our draft picks would have been a big if Ainge didn't already have a hand-shake deal in place to bring back PJ in the spring.

No available big is as good as PJ, or fits this team better than PJ.  Keep that in mind when you want to freak out about us going into the season with an empty roster spot and no new bigs.

Well, that's not good. But I think that they are over it, or they should be.

Remember Eddie got kicked in the groin by Chauncey, and he got over it.
