Herald: Source insists Celtics have not made offer to Maggette

Not that this means anything.  Marc Spears had a quote from Maggette admitting the Celtics contacted him, I guess maybe they didn't offer him any sort of contract yet? Then again it could have just been a verbal offering

Not quite, only that he contacted him:

"I called [Posey] and just talked to him and told him how much we wanted him back," Ainge said. "I told his agent and we had a conversation. So we're still having conversations. After James, yeah, I called a lot of guys just to say that we had interest. But I can't discuss names."

Maggette, however, confirmed yesterday he was one of those names.

"I was very surprised they called. They just came off a championship," said Maggette in a phone interview.

Well we might not have made a contract offer but we obviously called. I don't think Maggette would lie about how honored he was to get a call from Boston.

Are we waiting on Posey before we really go hard after Maggette then? That's going to be a big mistake in my book.
