The Celtics held the first day of a four-day minicamp in Waltham this morning. The camp, which features 16-20 players, mostly rookies and free agents, runs through Saturday.

Check out our photo gallery from today's action.

Among the attendees: Second-year players Glen "Big Baby" Davis and Gabe Pruitt, along with first-round draft pick JR Giddens. Stroll through our gallery to see who else is in town for the event.

The Globe's Marc J. Spears touched on the minicamp in his Sunday notes column:
The Celtics will hold a minicamp for 16-20 players at their Waltham training facility from Wednesday through Saturday. Celtics forward Glen Davis, guard Gabe Pruitt, and first-round draft pick J.R. Giddens are expected to participate, as are ex-NBA players center Jackie Butler, forward Lawrence Roberts, and guards David Noel, Omar Cook, and Mustapha Shakur. Forward Bill Walker, a second-round selection by Washington who was traded to Boston, will not participate. Ainge said Walker will likely undergo minor knee surgery this week.

Randolph Morris - Kentucky

David Hawkins - Temple

Omar Cook - St. Johns....this kid was very good should of stayed in college instead of declaring after one year

Eddie Basden - UNC Charlotte

Brian Butch - Wisconsin

The Knicks didn't sign Randolph Morris beyond last season?

All I know...

He was a McDonalds All-American...smart guy in the classroom just never lived up to his potential. He is a very hardworker though.

Good to see Omar Cook (aka the Face of the NBDL) again.

Seeing him try out has become a summertime ritual.

A couple of those guys play in Europe:

Omar Cook is going to play with Unicaja next year. Very weird player, he's a pass-first pg who suddenly transforms himself into a big chucker for no apparent reason. Last season he went for something like a 0/15 from the 3pt line in a elimination game.

Eddie Basden is a very interesting player, great hustle guy, good defender. But I believe he lacks the skills to play in the NBA. He played along our recent draft pick Erden 2 years ago, I think he was injured for most of the last season.

Hawkins played for Lottomatica. Decent player, solid all-around game.

I dont really know anything abuot Brian Butch other then he was a very highly ranked HS who didnt really live up to expectations.

I did find this video of him hurting his elbow (gruesome injury).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZiLPZXjZd4

I cant really see what he does to it, but by his reaction, it obviously hurt.

Big Baby is the man!

I'd like to see some more coverage on the camp.  Hmm... I guess we'll just have to wait.

Randolph Morris is intriguing.  I wonder if we could get him in for a one year contract that isn't guaranteed (similar to Kandi Man).

I know Semih Erden was introduced to the team (I was surprised about this).  Does anyone know if he practiced?  (I don't think he did, it would probably go against his current contract)

I live in Wisconsin so I've seen alot of Butch.  He was a HS all american out of Appleton but never really lived up to the potential of that at Wisconsin.  He was a very good Bo Ryan type of player though.  Hard worker, decent rebounder, good midrange/college three point shot, intelligent.  I don't know if he's NBA material but he's a big body.  I'd most likely see him going over seas though.

ROFL, Omar Cook has always looked like a Space Alien to me. Just imagine Cook, Sheldon, Cassell, and Popeye Jones all hanging out with each other.

Are these all the players invited? Any others? Maybe Chris Andersen?
But I would've thought there would be a few more slightly bigger names, with only Jackie Butler having a chance of making our roster (as well as our rooks and sophs of course) IMO.
But again, I don't really know much about anyone from that list-can anyone give us a brief look at the player?
Anything is possible!!!
