Honestly...this guy has had a myriad of injury issues. Who honestly thinks he will be healthy all season? This is not Zo from 1993. I really hope that Danny stays away from him. Would much rather add Mutombo, Kurt Thomas, Chris Anderson or even bring back PJ Brown if he decides against retirement.

Zo is awful now!

Because the Celtics do not need a star.

They need good defense and experience off the bench.   Sounds like Zo.

Plus, imagine the trick Perk could learn from him.

I think many (myself included) would like to see Mourning added because they see him as another PJ Brown, a vet who can step in and play 10-15 minutes a night as a legit back-up big. A player who will provide interior defense, shot blocking, rebounding and who can score. He's also somebody who could step up his minutes and really contribute (again ala PJ) if Perkins gets into foul trouble.

Humm... Zo was playing very well last season till he got injured. And he played 77 and 65 games in the 2 previous seasons.

I have doubts about his full recovery from the last injury as well, but he was still a very useful player just half a year ago.

I think Zo is pretty much done at this point. I think we need someone who can start and play around 30 minutes if Perk gets hurt. Not sure if Zo can do this.

But I wouldn't say no if he is willing to come here for the vet minimum. We really need another center.

Well, he played 77 games two seasons ago, and averaged 20 minutes in those games.  So, it's certainly possible for him to remain healthy.  I agree that he doesn't have the best track record of it, but it's also not outside of the realm of possibility that he'd be perfectly effective playing 15 - 20 minutes here.

He brings legit size, rebounding, and some scoring.  If we could get him for a minimum deal, I'd bring him in, and take the chance on his health.

He had a season ending injury.  At his age and all his past injury issues I wonder if he can really even come back from that and be effective.  But he's been pretty darn effective the last few years in 15-20 minutes.  And we need a capable big man backup.  We're a small team right now.

Healthy Zo from last year is better than healthy Scott Pollard.  That's why some fans want him.

I guess if Danny could get him for the vet min then I would be in favor. I just do not think there is enough tread on the tires. Patella surgery is major.

This is exciting, though! I love all the free agent talk!

I love this idea.  If we can get him for the right price he would be a great addition.  All we need is 15 minutes a game from him.  This would give the 2nd unit an intense enforcer.  If we bring back House & Pose that would be a real nice unit.

Its because Celtics fans have only dreamed of free agents wanting to play here for so long. I will remember going to a game a few years back and Bimbo Coles got a standing ovation!

This is no longer a dream!

Alonzo Mourning has been the best backup center in the NBA over the past three years. He's one of the best interior defenders in the league and a quality rebounder. He's also has some offensive talent.

That's why people want him.
