The Knicks: Does anyone else want to see them turn it around?

I for one would love to see the Knicks become a good team again.  Now that the moron Isiah has been shipped off to Europe (cue the Dropkick's and Papelbon dancing)I think they have a chance. 

I think I might think this just because I go to school in New York and am stuck watching them all year long and I just can't handle watching such bad basketball all year long.  However it would be great for the league.  It would also be good for us.  I'd love to have some real old school hard fought games between the Knicks (not just Richardson and Pierce going at it for personal reasons).  I want to play them in the playoffs and bring the Boston/New York dynamic back into the league.

New York is a great city, and basketball is their number one sport.  They deserve a good team to root for, and ultimately fall short against the C's in the playoffs  .

To me the Knicks are like the Lakers almost. I could never root for them and i was not one of the people that wanted the Lakers to get to the finals for the C's to beat them i just wanted them to lose every game miserably. I think the Knicks are full of punks and i just couldn't root for them even if it meant we got to knock them out of the playoffs

Not me. I love seeing them suffer. I have lived on NY since 1983, but grew up in New England, and remain loyal to all my Boston teams, led by my favorites, the Celtics.  I can't tell you how great it is to wear my KG shirt around town, getting silent, jealous stares from others. Wearing Red Sox memorabilia is just not the same, more likely to get verbal rebukes.

Besides, the Celtics' biggest historic rival is not the Knicks. Or the Lakers. It's the Sixers. Now that would be fun!!

Count me out.  Only my hatred of the Yanks rivals my feelings toward the 'Bockers in all of sports, and I've gleefully enjoyed watching the Knicks get pasted on a regular basis over these last few seasons.

Let's get the MSG-goers another round of 50-loss seasons, stat.

I think I am too young to really get the hatred of the Knicks, both teams have not been relevant at the same time in my lifetime.


Here's a compromise.  How about they make a slight turnaround, which is all that is needed to make the playoffs in the East, and they sneak in at the 8th seed.  Then we proceed to sweep them in the Playoffs.  Beating them by 45+ is awesome, now imagine doing It FOUR straight times in the Playoffs.  Imagine the scene in Game 4 going into the fourth quarter when we're up 3-0 and the score of the game is 90-55.

There really have not been that many times where both the Celts & Knicks have been great at the same time so the rivalry isn't that great to me.  I say let em stay sucky for perpetuity.

A one liner on how to do it = They need to move at least 50% of their 8/9 man rotation for that to happen. Even if they don't get talent back the 4 guys they keep will be better off. It doesn't necessarily need to be any players in particular, what they need to strive for is more balance on the court.

David Stern may want to see them succeed, but not me.  Let them suffer for years to come.  It is their own fault, after they rigged the lottery results and stole Ewing they still couldn't piece together a championship.  Danny did it here in Boston after the Celtics once again were cheated by the lottery gods.  If nothing else, they desrve to suffer just for staying with Isiah for so long.

No. They scare me because of their unlimited supply of money. Luckily for the Eastern Conference, Isiah had the checkbook for the last couple of years.

I understand it would be great for the league. But no:

1. They are the Knicks. I'd rather see the Brooklyn Nets being relevant.

2. I dislike seeing teams with no spending restrictions to succeed. I want Portland to bust and NY to get stucked in mediocrity forever.

Anyway, there's nothing to worry about until 2010.
