The Celtics hope to sign a veteran backup point guard to a one-year, veteran minimum contract, an NBA source said. Candidates include Eddie House, who would return for a second season with Boston, Dallas's Tyronn Lue, Orlando's Keyon Dooling, Miami's Jason Williams, and Chicago's Chris Duhon.

I would take whoever is the cheapest, but I would definitely like House to return.

I hate it when articles are phrased like that.  Is the source saying we're interested in those players?  Or is the source saying we're interested in a backup point on a cheap deal, and the author of the article is throwing out his own names based upon speculation?

Either way, I guess, the names aren't really a surprise.  If we're not talking to them yet, I suspect we will be soon.

You're absolutely right, Roy, but in this case, I think the source is the one who's telling the writer that the C's are interested in those players.

out of all of those, including house, i'd like to see jason williams here. if he can get himself injury-free he could be exactly what we need. pass-first, good shot and good handles to back up rondo.

I think a lot of this depends on how high they are on Pruitt.  If they think he can be the "true backup" PG for 100 games next year then House will probably be their favorite out of this list.  If they don't think he can provide that then they might go for someone who could run the offense a little better than Eddie.

Out of the rest of that list I think I'd like to see Jason Williams in green.  He would add the scoring off the bench and could also do well running this offense.  I think we definitely should sign one of these minimum guys, they are all valuable to our situation.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
Give me Eddie Casa, if we can't resign him I'll take Lue, very different styles but both could be effective here.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
i've always been a fan of duhon...i'm surprised he doesn't have more suitors.  but i'm guessing the knicks will come after him - donnie walsh loves the kid.

Yeah, they've already offered him more money than we ever will.  I don't think he will end up coming here.  He'll be a good pickup for the Knicks.  Now they just need about 8 or 9 good moves and they'll be in good shape.

I hate Tyronn Lue.  The only reason he is still in the league is because he got paid after the '01 finals for his defense, aka mauling, of Iverson.  He has no discernible skills and I think we could find much better options elsewhere.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I've got no problem with House returning, but he's definitely not the back up point we need.

Williams, and Duhon sound good to me. I'm pretty sure Dooling and Ray don't get along, but maybe the fight was a one time thing.

I've been saying Duhon is our backup point guard since before the season was over.  I think he has everything we need.

Tyronn Lue, a 10-year NBA veteran, said Wednesday that the Suns, the Boston Celtics and the Dallas Mavericks are his favorites. Boston might not make a big offer, either. Lue finished last season with Dallas, for which he played two minutes during the playoffs.

Lue would start some games with the Suns to rest starter Steve Nash.

"I feel really good about the Suns," Lue said. "I want to go to a winning team and a good organization. They have both those things. I'd love to play with Nash and with Shaq (O'Neal) again. Hopefully we can work something out."

Lue, 31, said other teams have offered more money and that he hopes to land a two-year deal.

I don't like Jason Williams
I don't like Ty Lue
I don't like Dooling but I could just about live with him
I like Chris Duhon but he'll be off the market shortly

That's my feelings on the list.

Eddie House would you please come back to Boston? Pretty Please? Ah go on, go on, go on, go on! Sure you might as well come back and try for another championship.

Tyronne Lue is a decent backup, i have no idea why some of you guys think otherwise. Dallas is dumb to play him so little during last years run

duhon is ok, he reminds me of mark jackson. excellent at nothing but good enough at everything(he is a goner for sure)

i would like house back, but he deserves something a little better and longer. But if not , he can comeback
