A friend of a friend heard a Shaun Livingston to the Celtics rumor on EEI yesterday.

Anyone hear this or know more?

They don't need to get anything, Livingston is an unrestricted Free Agent, like Tony.

The Clippers need not get anything. He's a free-agent. Unrestricted.

He's a free agent.

That being said, I don't put much faith in the "friend of a friend heard on WEEI" rumor.  There haven't been any reports of Celtics interest that I have heard, and I doubt that he would come here due to the limitations on salary and minutes that he'd see with the Celts.

I believe he's a free agent now.

But he'd almost have to take a Bartolo Colon type deal for me to want a part of him at this point (and I don't think they do that sort of thing in the NBA)
Yup

Despite enormous "potential" Shaun can't seem to stay healthy long enough to be an asset.  We already have seen the "wisdom" of a Scott Pollard back-up, err lack of wisdom in his case....

Yet if the price were right, the temptation is difficult to resist!

My apologies didnt know livingston was a free agent another guy I would rather see us sign is Beno Udrih but I believe he is looking for the full mid-level.But Beno would be a real nice complement to Rondo with his abilities to shoot and run a offense. But he probably would be to costly.

If we don't resign any of TA, Sam or House, he'd definitely get minutes. I don't want to bash Rondo either but he'd definitely press Rondo for pt if he is playing like he was pre injury.

I have to admit, I'd be interested.  It'd not often you see point guards with his size and ability.  Still, from a practical point of view, he doesn't fill a huge need.  Rondo will be seeing at least 32-35 mpg this season, if not more.  So, there won't be a huge need for him.  Moreover, I'm not overly fond of the idea of both of them on the court at the same time, as neither of them shoots very well.  Having a lineup of Rondo, Livingston, Pierce, Garnett, and Perkins at times wouldn't space the floor that well.

That said, whenever you have a shot at netting a quality point or a quality big, I guess you go for it.

Still, I don't see this happening.

No.

By the way, the Knicks are offering Chris Duhon a 2 years/6 million contract to Duhon. One less target for us.

If he wants to be a backup and come in for cheap then I think it would be great, I just don't see him doing that though.

Let's also not forget you can't always trust what you hear on good old EEI.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

Indeed, now if it was a cousin of a friend of a friend, then it'll be a bit more reliable.

That's why I asked for confirmation from the forum. I never claimed it was true.
