“Walker, a high school teammate of O.J. Mayo’s, bulked up to 240 pounds last winter at Kansas State’s urging so he could play power forward next to Michael Beasley, but he’s lost weight and was showing the explosiveness that originally endeared him to scouts before his most recent setback. If healthy, Walker is one among a fairly large group of players – at least 10 deep now – that the Pistons would consider should he be available at No. 29.”

Can you believe that the geniuses over there wanted him to gain weight?!?!

So that he could play out of position?!?!

Why was this even allowed?!?!

They should be sued for attempted career assassination.

Didn’t they realize that he just came off a major injury and gaining weight would not help?

Didn’t they realize that banging down low while playing power forward wasn’t going to help?

I’m pulling for this kid to be in the rotation by next year at the latest.  He was a top ten talent before going to Kansas State and then they almost flush his career down the toilet.

Talk about everything he had to push through while at Kansas State!

I hope Danny and Doc will be patient with him, kind of like they were with Leon.  If all goes well Bill could essentially be next year’s first-round pick not the Turkish Terror.

He’s already lost quite a bit of weight (that K-State criminally told him to put on) and now he is in a top-rate organization with top-rate facilities and a top-rate medical staff.

I think that with this combination he could be good and maybe just maybe…special.

Like the famous song says:
“Mamas don’t let your babies grow up to be Kansas State Wildcats.”

Meh... not very believable... he was way over-weighted before he started playing for KSt this season, in fact he lost weight during the season, it's visible in tape.

Let me say that sometimes Walker looks like a PF in a SG body; because of the way he plays, not his body strength. He's also very good posting up, it's probably his best skill. He doesn't know how to use his explosiveness from the perimeter.

Also, in abstract, college's coaches job is to win games, not preparing players to the NBA.

If that's what K-State recommended, I agree it's ridiculous; you don't add weight when somebody is recuperating from a serious injury.  However, I'm with cordobes in that I'm a little skeptical of it.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
i believe we picked up a player (in walker) who has skills comparable to ruben patterson...if that's so, i for one, am very pleased with this deal.

what's in the past is over...he's a celtic now and he has a fresh start...

...he actually played at about 260lbs last year...he's down to 235 and its noticeable...he's a good kid,  but he's very unlikely to be in the team's rotation-78% of players don't become starters until year 3 and less than 5% of players taken in the 2nd round even stick in the pros for multiple years...there is a reason he went 47th, and its not just because of his knees...the kid needs to develop his game a lot before he's a rotation player in a title rotation...he'll get there, I believe that..but he ain't there yet..
