I thought I read it would be running this week and would have players like Omar Cook etc again.. I laughed to myself when I saw it because of the fact Omar Cook was being brought in for the camp. I will look around to see if I can find it, thought I saw Jackie Butler's name on the list of people coming for the camp also.

Basketball notes from Boston Globe online about Bill Walker, the section ends with this...

Quote
The Celtics will hold a minicamp for 16-20 players at their Waltham training facility from Wednesday through Saturday. Celtics forward Glen Davis, guard Gabe Pruitt, and first-round draft pick J.R. Giddens are expected to participate, as are ex-NBA players center Jackie Butler, forward Lawrence Roberts, and guards David Noel, Omar Cook, and Mustapha Shakur. Forward Bill Walker, a second-round selection by Washington who was traded to Boston, will not participate. Ainge said Walker will likely undergo minor knee surgery this week.

TA should come play for his job at this camp. If he doesn't he could easily lose it to Giddens, Walker and Pruitt.

I had read about Danny trying to convince Walker to go to Europe for a year. It was probably Celtics blog on boston.com, or maybe even here.. but I know I read it somewhere

TA will be back next year and will be a big part of this team. Does everyone forget the pre-injured TA? He will be back to near 100% next year and fans here will be back on the wagon intead of trying to just throw him away. Giddens wasn't drafted to take TA's place on the roster as he hasn't done anything in this league yet, and we are a championship team now, not rebuilding giving unproven talent court time. Giddens was drafted as a replacement for Ray when he is done with this team, just as hopefully Walker will be Pierce's replacement.

Actually, the best thing to do is bring him to camp and let him take his licks. If he gets schooled by TA, Giddens and the other back ups then the point has been made. Then Danny can say he likes him and wants him to be a Celtic-here is how he can get to be a member of the current NBA champs, and send him to the D league for all or part of the year. The point is, Walker needs a chance to prove himself on a healthy knee. If he still needs further development, (I think he might) he can learn in the D league this year and "earn" his way back to the team by proving he can improve with hard work.

This kid is loaded with the "P" word, we need to get it out of him somehow. 8)

I'd really like to see "Too Much" Rod Benson get an invite.

sure he will, just like he was suposed to be 100% by the middle of this year...then it became the end of the year...now its next year.

look, i feel for the kid, but he's not getting his hops back after two reconstructed ACL's as he gets ready to turn 25.

I remember the pre injury TA.  He was not that different than last years TA...he was just playing for a horrible team where he was allowed to do whatever he wanted on offense, and not play within the system.

I saw that exact same player last year...he just was having a lot of trouble keeping his head in the game as a roleplayer, rather than "the man".

Is this open to the public at all?

no one has answered the op's question.  just curious if anyone knows.  id be interested in going if its open to the public.  i should check with my celts rep thru my season tix. if not open to public, maybe it is for season tix holders.  more than likely it will be closed for the public.
