Also, this team is REALLY young still. Half of our roster is under 25. I don't think we can afford to pickup any more young guys. We need vets not projects.

Brandon Wallace could be released at any time even if they started the season with him as the 15th man.  I would think the Celtics would want to bring in a 3 although not necessarily Wallace.  I liked what I saw in him in summer league last year but it appears it was fleeting.  He might not be the best of the avialable next to no cost guys.

Of course if they bring in Wallace or someone like him, there is another scenario and that is that this 15th person plays better than Scal and a spot is openned by buying out Scal.

Another scenario is that Danny may actually feel that Walker is as good as Wallace or any other available option whose price is right.  I would be surprised but who knows.

Just don't see a need or spot for what he brings.

everyone is stating we need a big sf who can defend. This guy is quick and athletic. He could also give you some scoring at tip ins.

I'm not saying to sign him but just invite him to camp again

Its mysterious to me how you sign an unproven commodity in obryant(i have faith though) but not give a guy like wallace another crack(one or two injuries last year and he would have made the team)

Its also disturbing people putting scal as an legit backup sf. You think he can guard anyone??

One is a C.  The Celtics only had one C.

One is a non shooting SF or a really small PF.  The Celtics have Powe, Davis, Scali, TA, Pierce, and KG

there is a major need difference.

Plus, hard to believe, O'Bryant has done more.

I suspect that Danny knows that come crunch time, Doc trusts his veterans, and that's who he relies on.  Dev. George is probably coming this way, fill in the need of having a championship tested veteran who can play the three, and maybe at times the 4.

Brandon Wallace will not be walking through that door.  We have too many untested question marks already.

We have enough kids on the team as is. He was cut for a reason(lack of experience for skill) and he's yet to earn that. We need a vet, plain and simple.
Can't stop, Rondo!

Patrick O'Bryant's 1.6 ppg and 1.2 rebs/game are officially 1.6 ppg and 1.2 rebs/game more than Brandon Wallace has ever avergaged in his NBA career.  Potential is nice, but results are definitive.  How can Wallace play any power position when he weighs 203 lbs?  Maybe in my church league...maybe.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
i think we can all be fairly certain that danny's not going to fill up all 15 roster slots...like last season, he wants some flexibility for a late season acquisition (or two).

i think danny is fair that, when a guy comes and plays all season long and dedicates himself to the team, danny honors that and feels to cut a guy later to pick up someone in the short run is not respectful.  i realize it's a "business" but danny's loyal to people in that sense.

Wallace had a contract last season. It just wasn't guaranteed. Before the remainder became guaranteed, he cut Wallace.

Good point.  TP.  And Darius wouldn't cost much more than Wallace would.

there are not a lot of defensively oriented small forwards left in the free agent pool, I would not be surprised if danny fills the back up 3 spot with a development leaguer.

Wallace is 6'9" and freakishly athletic. we signed him last year with the idea of turning him into a 3, now basketball reference lists his defensive rating as 7th best in the nbdl.  i bet danny brings him in for another look.

I think there is zero chance Danny brings Brandon Wallce on the team.  We only have 2 veterans on the bench (Tony and House) and there is no way Danny brings in another inexperienced player that is not going to help win a championship.  The Celtics have enough young players on the team as it is, with a rookie expecting to contribute.  If Danny signs another player, it will be a veteran.

I would rather have Wallace at the backup 3 spot than TA.

Perk/Davis/O'Bryant
KG/Powe/Scal
Pierce/Wallace/Walker
Ray/TA/Giddens
Rondo/House/Pruitt

Wallace would probably be more effective than Walker, at least at this point.  If something better comes along, send him back down to the D league.  But the C's definitely need a backup 3 who can play lockdown D on the other team's wings.  I predict Posey will be sorely missed, even more than people anticipate.
