With P.J. Brown unsure of whether he will return or retire, the club will contact a number of free agents when that season opens Tuesday. And don’t be surprised if the C’s, based on their success with Brown, go the veteran route again. It’s expected that they will touch base with a crew that includes Alonzo Mourning and Dikembe Mutombo.

Mourning would be a great move. 1.7 blocks per game in 16 minutes last season. Amazing.

What is the maximum we can pay for Mourning or Moutombo if we give Posey the full MLE?

I would take either of them. Mourning would be a great veteran presence as long as he doesn't phone-it-in like he did in New Jersey.

LLE - about 2 million.

I doubt we would give them the LLE. Remember, we pay twice (luxury tax), and if we sign someone to the LLE, it should be for two years. But on the other hand, I remember Boston offering Mutombo the LLE last year.

I would love to have either guy if PJ retires for good, but I think it's just a pipe dream. Alonzo loves miami and they should have a pretty good team this year with Wade, Marion and Beasley. They are going to need Mourning on that team.

Mutumbo made it clear last year that he didn't want to leave houston because his family is down there. They could be a contender next year if Yao doesn't get hurt again .

I could get Anne Hathaway today if I had Bill Gates's bank roll.  ;D  But actually I agree that I don't think either of these are coming. Mourning loves Miami and I think they could be really good this year. Mutombo didn't want to come here partly because of the cold, and I still don't think he'd come, but maybe he has a little regret after watching Game 6. He's at least a possibility.

I don't see Zo coming.  He is quite happy in Miami.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Mount Mutumbo stayed in the NBA because he loves Houston. He's not coming to Boston

Zo already got his ring in Miami, so he doesn't need to chase one. He's not going anywhere.

yeah, Mutombo would be a good backup to Perk, but it just ain't happening.. Leave Mourning at Miami, i don't want any of him to be here following what he did at New Jersey..

You're going for Hathaway with 30 billion? Her fiance is under house arrest for a real estate scam. I think you can set your sights a little higher, like maybe Marisa Miller... That's 30 Billion you're rolling with!
Now, on to 18...
