I saw him slipping and was hoping he would still be on the board when the C's drafted, so I got excited when he lasted.  I was extremely disappointed the C's didn't take him.  He is exactly the type of player you take with the last pick in the first round.  Raw, athletic, explosive, and with a huge frame.  He is very raw both fundamentally and phsyically, but the C's don't exactly need him to do much of anything next year, which would have given him time to mature.  He is actually very similar to Perkins when he entered the league, except Jordan is bigger and more athletic.  C's will regret passing on Jordan for yet another athletic wing that could have been drafted at least ten spots lower.

I agree with you.  I was def rooting for Jordan and I was very excited when we had the chance to pick him.

But in Ainge I trust.

I dunno. Bill Walker seems like he is going to be ridiculously good - crazy athlete and smart dude. I am more amazed we didn't pick him 30..

It makes sense.  They didn't want to give a guaranteed contract to him until they see that he is really healthy.

I can just about accept that they didn't want a project on this Championship. Just about .... (maybe not so much later on when I think about this more)

I think a lot of teams are going to regret passing on this kid.

I would have loved to have seen what Clifford Ray could have done with him.

Deandre Jordan was talked about as if he were the Gerald Green of the center. He has all the physical tools, but doesn't really know how to play the game, and there were questions about his motor.

guaranteed contracts to guys with major knee issues in his past and currently riding a knee injury are not exactly smart things to do.

With both Walker and CDR on the board, I figured one would drop low enough that the C's could get one of them.  Passing on a kid with Jordan's size and potential is a bad thing to do and everyone drafting at the end of the first and early part of the second are going to regret it.

Why???? Why would you want Jordan? He has the lowest basement, so to speak, of any American player in the draft. He was a huge bust waiting to happen. At times he didn't even play for Texas A&M because he was so horrible.

He isn't a good basketball player.  He is a good athlete.

Don't give up now. He'll be available again pretty soon. Maybe even before the season starts.

Perhaps the Celtics didn't want to pay guaranteed money for a kid who won't likely be ready to play in the NBA till after his contract is up.

I guess you'll just have to join Bill Simmons and be the only other Clipper fan....

Jordan was the 3rd best big man for A&M.

TP for you.  That's exactly my sentiments.  Ainge seems to have gone away from drafting super athletes who lack basketball skills.  While Giddens and Walker are super athletes, they both are very skilled as well.  Whether that pans out or not I don't know.  However, it's the same formula that netted Ainge Allen, Gomes, Powe, and Davis.  All four were very skilled basketball players with questions marks in other areas.  All four have panned out because they had basketball skills despite other issues (in their cases, mostly size).

Jordan's agent wouldn't let people in the 20's picks work him out, because he/she thought that Jordan would go by the teens. I read that in an article earlier.
