If they could do a sign and trade for Swift I think it would be a great move.  Swift's biggest problem has been staying healthy, and getting his body under control (he gained too much muscle, and his body couldn't handle it).  I actually think the C's training staff have done a great job with rehabbing guys, so maybe it would be worth a shot.

Something like:

Allen (resigned for 3 years, 8 million) plus Scal and cash for Swift (resigned for 3 years, 15 million).

When Swift was healthy, he looked like he was going to be one of the best young centers in the league.  He would definitely be worth the risk.

Then we add Pollard too and hope that by the end of the year one is healthy enough to finish the season lol.

I'm not sure about Swift or the Sonics' needs, but I daresay plenty of teams will remember Tony's explosion last season after Paul went down.  He does some things REALLY well and I'd say there could be considerable interest.  That said I'm not necessarily thrilled with the idea of seeing him in another uniform.

The Celtics will show interest in and negotiate with Kwame Brown.

He wasn't playing that poorly when he got injured, just below his $9mil salary expectation.  He's 26 and entering the prime of his career.  He has a lot to prove - to everyone, and being on this team where so much focus is on the stars, he'll feel limited pressure and free him to perform.  He'll also be asked to shoulder less of the burden offensively, and be called on to be physical, play defense, and pick up garbage.  He's still a top flight talent to be had on the cheap.

With all the big man help the Nets added I'd think that you might be able to get Sean Williams (or even Kristic) without all that much difficulty. Character issues aside, I think Williams would be a fantastic bench guy and could really light up the Boston crowd with his shot blocking abilities....

And I swear to god, pun unintended.

I don't know, I just don't see him as Danny's type of player.  I am guessing he is the same braintype as Mark Blount...or John Candy.

I'd like to see Robert Swift for the heck of it, but I don't think the Sonics are planning on giving him up.

If we resign House and Posey, sign Walker and Giddens, that leaves us with 2 roster spots. One of these has to be a legit backup CENTER.

I'm assuming PJ Brown retires, but leaves open the chance of coming back later in the year, just like this season.

This is what I think happens.  We platoon Powe and Davis at the backup 5 for the regular season, and sometime around March or so, dust off PJ for another playoff run Lindsey Hunter style.

5 starters --RR, RA, PP, KG, KP
4 rotation --House, Posey, Powe, BB
4 practice --Scal, Pruit, JR, BillW

Which leaves us 2 roster spots will likely be filled by Cassell (now) and PJ (post AllStar break) again next year.

I think if Pollards ankles problems are taken care of he will be a good guy to have on bench as backup center.  He plays within a team game and plays good d, rebounds and passes well.
Whoever put Jeff Fosters name down...good thought.  He's always played well against us, maybe not a big center but he can really help.

I posted this in another thread:

What do you guys know about David Harrison?

What about Chris Anderson? will the Hornets resign him?

Is Theo Ratliff pretty much done?

Bierdins will probably be too expensive...

Alonzo Mourning? He's pretty much done, and if he comes back, it'll be to the Heat.

Elson sounds good to me, but I don't know if we have the money for him. He won a title with the Spurs...

Skinner is a little small, as is Kurt Thomas.

Voskuhl?

Diop I wouldn't mind.

Jeff Foster would be servicable.
Adonal Foyle?

I like the idea of bringing him in here. Maybe sort of to start his career over as a bench player. I like your explanation of wahat he can bring to he team too.

I don't know, Laker fans were thrilled to ship him out of town.  Not just because he wasn't earning his $9MM, but because he has "manos de piedra".  I say pass on Kwame.

We are the cream of the league now.  We should be looking for talented Centers that want to compete for a ring with our stars.  I think that includes Dikembe Mutombo, Alonzo Mourning, Adonal Foyle and centers like that.

We could also try and package either BBD or Powe (I say Powe - ceiling is lower, will be more expensive to re-sign) to a team with a young center (i.e. Andray Blatche, Robert Swift) along with Tony Allen.

I think Powe and Allen for Swift has to look attractive to Seattle, given that Swift can't crack the line up for them.
