As Tony Allens official #1 fan i feel obligated to do this.

Since we picked Giddens (Love the pick BTW) I think this spells the end of the greatest Celtic to ever play. He went through alot but always gave 100% to this franchise. Please nobody come in here and hate on him, only positive TA guys like ATP and MGG. Long love TA and he will break out next year!!

I bid a fond farewell to my boy Tony Allen. Always gave us his best effort and was exciting to watch. Gotta wish him the best.

didn't we declare and end to these "official" threads every 5 minutes?

regardless, it probley does spell the end for TA, who i like alot. Hopefully he can get on at a team who isn't as deep and mabey get some game IQ through some burn.

He needs 20-30 minutes every night so that he hopefully can get over his biggest problem, being dumb as a brick (on the basketball court, sure he's a intelligent guy off it, but his on the court decision making is horrid at times.) all the talent is there, hopefully some up and coming team gives him a chance to put it together as they grow a bit. bobcats mabey.

And here I was thinking I was TA's biggest fan.

Unfortunately I do believe the pick for Giddens will mean TA will not be resigned.  Pre-injury, I thought for sure TA was going to be Pierce's replacement (and make PP bigtime tradebait).

Hope TA puts it together wherever he ends up (hopefully the C's but I doubt it)

Well put sir, TA said one quote that ill always remember. "I dont put on this Celtics jersey for stats, i put it on to help us win games". He handled the benching in the playoffs very good and was always up cheering the rst of the team.

Doc was recently(tonight) on Comcast in a interview with Greg Dickerson and the other guy(can't think offhand his name),but it sounded promising for TA returning...now if Doc really knows much or not,im not sure. But Doc sounded like he wanted TA back next season. So its not over yet guys for TA.However its not Doc decision,so its a wait and see/here.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
I can't imagine Tony coming back.  Our roster is going to be pretty full, and cutting him saves the team over $5 million, after you take the luxury tax into account.

Trades. It's what I've been saying, now we're in a great position to make some trades. Even if they're bad ones, we should at the least gain either more useful players, fill some needs, more roster flexibility, or some financial relief.

I think that's the biggest value in these two picks, it allows Danny to make some trades without losing some "key" players.

can you guys explain to me the restricted free agent situation?? If no team signs tony allen does that mean that the celtics have to still take care of his contract for the 2008/2009 season??

Or can he be cut??

Looks like if he can be cut, he will be.

I always thought TA was under-appreciated here.  It's hard to find guys who play top-notch defense, and give it their all every game.  And he could be a good offensive player as well.

Anyone who doubts TA's ability should watch the game where he shut down Kobe, or the Salmon and Mashed Potatoes game.

I remember watching this game(http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/boxscore;_ylt=AvuEK2K7fv3yds5m7m4CXWWkvLYF?gid=200412131) back in his rookie season, what a hell of a game it was too. Against the Clippers 2OT and Pierce fouled out and TA stepped up big time, although he only shot 5-15, he had 12pts 7reb (4off) 2ast 3stl 2 blk and some tremendous hustle all over the places playing 36 minutes. We ended up winning this game and TA was one of the main reasons why. He always went all out 100% even though it may have caused him pain and injuries. He was a character indeed.

The best TA quote ever is the "Salmon and Mashed Potatoes" line, one that will forever live on in celtics interview history.

I don't know if TA will be back, but I thank him for his hard work, hustle, funny sideline reactions, and his part in this championship ring.
