Pierce has title, a few good Celtics do not

Who takes over the seat that Paul Pierce kept warm for the last decade? Who is now the greatest Celtic to never win a title while playing in Boston?

It's an interesting debate.

Prior to Tuesday night, when the Celtics dispatched Kobe's soft Lakers to win their 17th NBA championship, Pierce easily topped the list -- so much so that debating No. 2 seemed irrelevant.

But the old No. 2 is now the new No. 1, whomever that may be.

The feeling here is that Antoine Walker, Reggie Lewis and 1960 Hall of Fame inductee Charles Edward Macauley Jr., or 'Easy Ed' as he was called, are legitimate candidates to succeed Pierce......

Interesting arguments....

Nice find.

I'd put it between Macauley and Lewis.  Strong arguments could be had for both.

Macaulay won a title--with the Hawks in 1958.  The Hawks beat the Celtics in 7 games that year, with Bob Pettit scoring 50 in game #7.

So my vote goes to Reggie Lewis.

If we take out Macaulay then we have to take out Antoine...It would have to be Reggie

RIP Reggie Lewis.  Man that's depressing.

Just another in long list of the horrendous unfortunate circumstances of the last 22 years.  Reggie along with the death of Len Bias continued to haunt this organization until #17 exercised them.  I'll continue to believe that Len was going to be a 6'8" MJ and as crazy as that sounds it's not completely hyperbole.  I hope we continue to cherish #17 and not get to ahead of ourselves thinking about #18.
