Why do we always have to choose between them? It`s not the first time that I see a Powe/BBD discussion on CB.

Powe was in his second year, while BBD was a rookie. Both give us different skills. Why discuss a conflict that doesn`t exist?

If I would have to choose, I`d want to keep both and cut Scal.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

I agree with keepbigAl about EW. He had one of the best first steps in basketball and he was tremendous taking it to the hoop and getting fouled. (he just only had a mediocre jumpshot and wasn't a great rebounder). Powe and BB are better rebounders and around the basket. As to the difference between BB and Powe, BB has much better feet and therefore can defend better. However Powe has a better anticipation on rebounds and can take it to hoop with more lift.

If BB works on his body and gets a little more lift he can be more of a force on both offense and defense. If not, Powe will continue to get more minutes as he is relentless.

It would be great for an NBA player to create space for their shot by being very tall, but the fact is that there are lots of guys who thrive by creating space to get their shot off by using strength and savvy.

Powe and BBD are part of a group of "undersized" young bigs, like Carl Landry, Jason Maxiel, and Paul Millsap, who need to use bulk, strength, positioning, and determination to score against the big timber in the NBA.

The second best point per shot scorer in the history of the NBA was the 6'5" Adrian Dantley, with a whopping 1.53 points per shot. (Atris Gilmore is first, at 1.62. Both guys aren't in the HOF.  For comparison's sake, Wilt was at 1.33, and MJ was at 1.31.  Recently, Shaq has been the highest, at 1.45 ppfga.

Dantley was able to use his ample backside to carve out tons of space to get his shot off, and was able to seal off defenders so well that he lived at the line, with 8.7 fts a game.  BBD would be wise to check out some video on this guy. He was a master of positioning.

i'm more of a powe fan. i may be the only one here that doesn't like bbd, but i'm not just not very fond of the guy. he doesn't seem like he has a great career in front of him like powe does. he's too short with a tiny wingspan to do anything on defense, and i can't help but cringe every time he gets his shot blocked.

but thats my point. after i watched him play in the summer league, post season, and early in the reg season, i didnt see how he could ever compete at this level. yet, despite all of his short comings, you have to call his rookie season a success. did he get some of his shots blocked? yes. but he was also very effective in getting offensive rebounds, put them back in the hoop, and even draw fouls. (btw, imagin if the NBA didnt have the "rookies dont get the same calls that vets do" rule. especially in the playoffs, BBD would of drawn thousands of fouls under the baseket. but we dont play basketball, we play stern-ball. but i digress...)
you can look at BBD like a talent scout would and say....hes too short for PF, arms are too short for C, cant shoot beyond 12', cant jump, doesnt have an nba body, didnt have a good senior season at LSU, ect.
but you cant see or judge his heart. and there are so many NBA players that just go thru the motions now-a-days. sometimes if you want it bad enough, nothing can stop you.
and after watching BBD this year, i just felt like he was always out there giving 110% while his opponents were giving 90%.
i'll take the little guy giving 110% everyday in that match-up.
anyways, thats why i wanted to make this post. all of the second guessing is nothing new for him, he can handle it. and if history has taught us anything, hes ready to prove all of us wrong again in year 2.

I went to Vegas this year to watch some of the C's summer league. Big Baby is enormous, and I don't mean fat, though he has some meat on him. His calves were the size of my thighs, he is a monster. He'd be a tight end if his body dictated what sport he played, but man he man handled the Chinese team one night, those guys were in awe of him... so, he's got some advantages in size and strength... but I still think if lost about 25 lbs. he'd have more lift and quickness
Now, on to 18...

BBD needs to lose 25-50 pounds and then I think he could be effective. He could a be 3/4 instead of a 4/5. That would be much better for us.
