My dream.

Posey and House resign with out using the MLE

Diop and Duhan for a split MLE.

TA and the 1st used to trade up and get Rush.

Take a flyer on O'Bryant if you can sing him for a minimal contract.

PG Rondo    Duhan   (House)   Pruitt
SG Ray      House   Rush
SF Pierce   Posey   Scali
PF KG       Powe    Davis
C  Perk     Diop    O'Bryant

I write my dream scenario (even though I doubt it happens) because last year, my dream scenario happened after KG joined the team (Posey/PJ/Cassell)

I agree with almost everything (except it's spelled Duhon), I think we don't need to trade TA to move up some teams like Phoenix will be selling their picks for cash. I think taking a flier on O'Bryant would be a great idea it's almost like getting another first round pick. With an offseason like that we are certainly in the drivers seat for a repeat.

Now what if we are not able to sign Posey and House? I say our plan should be the same with Duhon and Diop but then we should also go for Barnes or Grant Hill. What I think actually is going to happen is that we will get House for the 20% increase, Posey will command most of the MLE and we will need to get veterans who want to win a championship and will give us a discount.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Never thought id say this but if affordable id like to see jason williams running our bench at the point guard spot. Hes got some good energy and a very good three point shot. If house ended up leaving, which i hope he stays, Williams would be able to replace his 3 point shooting in a true point guards body. I would also give Kwame Brown a chance to be a bench player in Boston if thats what it came down to. The team needs a big bodied center to be in the rotation. Call me crazy but these two guys could really help this teams depth next season i feel.

Big time TP, that's an awesome scenario. Although I'd like Roger Mason instead O'Bryant and send Rush to the NBDL. If anyone goes down with an injury, bring back a retired(once again) PJ Brown for another half season.

  • The shortest answer is doing the thing
I write my dream scenario (even though I doubt it happens) because last year, my dream scenario happened after KG joined the team (Posey/PJ/Cassell)

I want to say there's no way it works out like that for us but I would be an idiot for doing so after last season. It's scary that it's even within the realm of possibility for the Celtics to become that much better, and it really all hinges on James Posey deciding if he wants to sign here for only a slight raise. If he does, the floodgates are wide open and that scenario becomes very possible.

I had always pinpointed this offseason as the pivotal one because Danny would have the entire summer to court FAs this time around. I'd love to see him work some magic again and snag other player the way he snagged Posey last year (hopefully he can re-snag him)

Signing Diop would be huge - he's not a great player but he pretty much replicates Perk's game, meaning there is zero dropoff in rebounding and defense when Perk leaves the game.

I'm excited for the draft because there are a lot of possibilities for Danny and I could definitely see him pulling something out of nowhere that ends up great for us - Rush has been #1 on my wish list all season but I think he'll go somewhere in the teens, too high to draft or trade up for, depending on what other teams think of TA. I think Rush is going to be a really good player and could step in and play a role next season. Would love Chalmers as well - but then again I've followed Kansas guys closely ever since Pierce so I might be biased.

Good list though - pretty much covers everything I could ever want from this offseason.

I think Williams has lost too much quickness, athleticism and defensive impact over the past two years. He was weak the year before last and awful last season. So it's a long time since he was a functional defender. Also, Williams has become even more inconsistent than previous years in his performances.

I'd pass on J-Will, I don't he has enough left in the tank.

My dream.
Posey and House resign with out using the MLE

Diop and Duhan for a split MLE.

I like the Posey/House/Diop/Duhon dream. I would keep TA because I'm a sentimental sucker
who likes all the players we draft* and I'd rather keep the O'Bryant spot for PJ Brown
who's going to return to us after the all-star break after retiring... it's a dream right.

I took a gander at the numbers (it's been updated on the OP):

2008 MLE (~$5.6M) (not fixed yet AFAIK)
Bi-Annual Exception ($1.91M)

Options on Free Agents:
"Non-Bird" Exception
      - James Posey ($3.847M)
      - Eddie House ($1.800M)
      - P.J. Brown ($1.514M) [120% of Minimum]
      - Sam Cassell ($1.514M) [120% of Minimum]
Qualifying Offer
      - Tony Allen ($2.744M)
Minimum Salary Exceptions
      - 10+ Year Vetaran ($1.262M)

I'd like to think that Posey would come back to us if it's close,
so someone is going to have to dip heavily into the MLE to get Posey ($4M+)
or guarantee a lot of years.

I would also like to think that House would come back to us for the Non-Bird
over the Bi-Annual Exception so someone would have to dip into the MLE ($2M+)
to get House or guarantee a lot of years.

Duhon and Diop for half the MLE would be approximately $2.8M each.
Duhon made $3.248M last year. Diop make $2.146M.
I think they'll both want bigger raises and years than we'll be able to give them.
