I have a superstition where I never bet on my teams, but I wonder if there have ever been a finals where the vegas odds were so clearly out of whack with what we all knew was the truth.  The reality was the C's should have been moderate favorites to win the series.

Instead they were heavy underdogs.  Even as the series progressed, and people should have been seeing the light, the Celtics were 3 point favorites in Boston and 7 point dogs in LA.  That just doesn't compute, and savvy gamblers should've made a killing.

I think the Western Conference bias accounted for this.  We all know the the Western Conference was amazingly competitive this year, but the best 2 teams in the league were Boston and Detroit.

I was in Las Vegas after the draft lottery (when we found out Boston was getting the 5th pick) but before the draft.

As I was walking through the casino I saw that the Celtics were 300 to 1 to win the NBA title.  (the lowest odds of any team on the board.)

I put $10 on it, figuring -- Hey, maybe we'll get Garnett and have a shot.

I'll be out in Las Vegas in a few weeks to collect my winnings.  :)

[as an aside, if you had bet on the Celtics in every game of the NBA Finals you would have won every single bet.]

I was in Vegas for the first 3 games.  Didn't bet a cent.  Couldn't, if I did I would have jinxed them.

Vegas was 90% Laker fans

I blew the chance to get the Celts at 70:1 in Vegas last July before the KG trade (despite personally witnessing Mchale and Ainge hanging out during the Summer League games.  I blew that one).

But, I did get some money down on them at 15:1 right before the season.  So not life-changing winnings, but not bad at all.

My girlfriend's parents bought me a bet while they were in Aruba. At the time, it was right after the KG trade and the odds for the Celtics to win were 10 to 1. They bought me a $10 bet and now I've got to send in that bet for my $100. Granted, it's not a huge sum, but I'll probably "stimulate the economy" by blowing it on a PS3 game.

Ahem...Hypothetically speaking I may have been on the right side of 6 hypothetical possible maybe quasi-type "wagers" and 1 wink-wink off the cuff, I sort of think the Celtics might win the series even though they are  "underdogs".

So, hypothetically speaking I won 7 times by sticking with the green!
Yup

I did not bet myself, because I try not to bet with my heart, even when I think it is almost a sure thing.  If I would have bet the props when this series started, then I'd be sitting pretty right now.

Anyway, if you guys are looking for a good place to bet in the future, then ask via private mesage.
Ask for Steve, who is a Celtics fan.
