I’m thankful to have a forum to say something about The Truth. I came back from an extended work visit in California last November to a husband I didn’t recognize – he was an insane Celtics fan. Originally from Lincoln, he’d gone to San Francisco in 1995, started a family and brought us back to Massachusetts two years ago. He rediscovered his love for the Celtics at the start of the 2007-08 season. In no time he transmitted this love to me, a native Californian, never a basketball fan – and the main attraction was Paul Pierce. I have never seen a professional sports figure play with more heart and soul than The Truth, through hardship and adversity, an attempted murder & countless other obstacles. It is very encouraging to watch him responding to accolades with the same honesty, grace & generosity he has shown under duress. I can’t say enough good things about him. If happiness is full use of one’s powers along the lines of excellence, Paul Pierce must be the happiest man on the planet. I am thankful for his example and thankful I have the chance to witness Boston’s appreciation of this man.
