Awards are 50% perception.  Celtics just changed some.

Pierce:  Now will get series looks at MVP, 1st team all NBA, 1st team all Defense, DPOY

Ray:  All NBA 1st team

Rondo/Perkins: All defensive teams.

Ainge:  just about no chance to repeat as executive of the year.  He just set the bar to high.

Scali:  future broadcasting career.

Don't think it changes it too much.

Pierce is the only one from the Big Three. All-NBA and All-Defense are possibilities. MVP will be very hard because of the balance from KG-Paul-Ray. Ray and KG will considered the same as last season.

Perk and Rondo are the big winners but they'd already arrived before the Finals for the majority of fokls/media prior to the playoffs. They'll be mentioned as possible All-Defense players although I think Perk misses out due to the tough class of defensive big men already in contention. Since there's no top defensive point guard Rondo could make the spot his.

As for the bench players .... Posey gets paid. Nobody else gets much love. Eddie won't get anything above and beyond what he'd already recieve. Same for the rest of the bench.

So are we considering it a foregone conclusion that Posey opts out? 3.5 million ain't bad, but I'll admit there's a lot of teams he'd start for, I just can't see him as the type of guy to take a little more money to go to a bad team.
