  • The good ole days.
So it's pushing 1AM here in California and I can't sleep from excitement.  I am already pumped to see what this team can do with a year under it's belt, with the maturation of Rondo and Perk, and what other pieces can be added.  So I did some research on some possible milestones we could witness next year for this team... took a long time to research all of this so  I hope you enjoy.

Paul Pierce

Points:    18,000 (1,055 away)
Rebounds:  5,000  (350 away)
Assists:   3,000  (111 away)

*only 23 players in history have accomplished at least this many of each (including Bird, Havlicek, Garnett).

Kevin Garnett

Points:    22,000 (1,622 away... likely to just miss this)
Rebounds:  12,000 (803 away)
Assists:   4,500  (110 away, 5,000 milestone expected April, 2010)
Blocks:    1,700  (35 away)
Steals:    1,500  (118 away... likely to just miss this)

* technically, 0 players in NBA history have the minimums in these 5 (or for what KG is currently at), although Kareem MAY have reached the 1,500 steals if they were counted his first 4 years.  For just the PTS-REB-AST numbers, 3 others in history - Kareem, Malone, Wilt.

Ray Allen

Points:    19,000 (if he was the 1st option, he could get to 20k... 773 away from 19)
Rebounds:  4,000  (97 away)
Assists:   3,500  (173 away)
3PT FG:    2,250  (150 away)

* one other player in history - Reggie Miller.  For just the PTS-REB-AST, only 20 others have done it.

Rajon Rondo

Points:   2,000   (685 away)
Assists:  1,000   (310 away)
Rebounds: 1,000   (386 away)

* well... at least the 3 above give him something to aspire to??  ;D

Oh... and maybe... Banner 18?  Perhaps?  That would be adding to a milestone as well!

Thanks, can anyone think of more?  I suppose there could be some decent ones for Posey and House (hoping they are back).

TP from me as well.  It's funny how once the championship is taken care of, the career marks start looking a whole lot more impressive.

Slightly off-topic but along the same lines of career accomplishments, what is the list of players that have won an MVP, a championship, a Defensive Player of the Year, and a gold medal in the Olympics?

I know Jordan and now KG.  I think Olajuwon.  Did DRob ever win DPoY?  Any others?
