one of the sweetest things in this series, in this playoffs, in this whole season really, for me was the fact that this whole roster contributed to accomplishing this goal.

this included Scal and Pollard and even little seen Gabe Pruitt...

watching tonight and see Big Baby dust it off and play very solid minutes, it reminded me that not only in this series, but this whole year, there were no squeaky wheels or spare tires or whatever analogy fits...

i think Danny brought in a great mixture of players from top to bottom. and i think Doc was not afraid to go deep into the bench because it was very clear what was expected of anyone who stepped on the floor this year and the players all delivered.

there is something just so satisfying to me about the all-encompassing nature of the way the team went about their business...right on through the other coaches and staff like Thibideau and Ray....

maybe the single greatest thing Doc did this year was cultivating this concept of "ubuntu" because the reason we simply destroyed the Lakers tonight was because we had a team that from top to bottom had some kind of harmonious convergence happening.

you can't dissect this team. there were too many interchangeable parts....from Paul going down in game 1 to Perk going down in game 4 to Ray going down tonight, this team functioned like an entity....like a TEAM...

ubuntu as corny as it might be to apply to a basketball team IMO revived something that in a lot of ways is lost in modern society and that is what is possible when people work together toward a common goal and the effort of ALL is appreciated, encouraged and utilized.

so satisfying...so very satisfying...

Totally agreed. Said before the game that the whole team needed to play well, and they did.. Proving how much BETTER as a TEAM they were than the Lakers. Kudos to everyone, from KG, to The Captain, to Ray Ray, to Double R, to Perk, to Poz, to E-House, to P.J., to Big Baby, to Powe, to Tony Tony Tony, to even Sam I Am, Scot Pollard, Scal, Gabriel and the rest. Love you guys one and all, for real.

I don't think I've seen a Championship team from the bottom up have so many valuable contributions from so many players since the Rockets of the mid 90's (maybe '99 Spurs).

You're right winsomme, it's one of the very pleasurable parts of this Celtics team and this Championship season.

This was Celtics basketball from start to finish this year. We before me.

We have to thank Red for building this franchise on teamwork. For a while (see the Patino years) there, I thought the link had been broken, but Danny has brought it back and we all know Red played a big part in that.

Doc actually mentioned that during one of his many interviews last night (have no idea which one)...he said playing underneath those banners, having the legacy of Red in every corner of this city, having a player from the last great teams as a GM, having legends like Cousy and Tommy and Bill and Hondo dropping by constantly all of this and much much more made his job easier.

when you are preaching the hard work that is needed and the payoff that it will deliver, it's nice to be able to back that up with HOF credentials around every corner.

Ray said this morning something that really stuck with me. he said that Doc kept telling the team all season "don't get bored with getting better.."

that sums it all up for me. we kept saying/hoping at different points during the season that this team was getting better and it turns out that that WAS the case. and IMO the fact that the guys never got complacent even with all the regular season success is the true hallmark of what this team accomplished this season.

Yep, you said it. How precious to have an example of how much happiness you can generate with team spirit. It's not corny at all. It's The Truth.
