Maybe this happens all the time and I just didn't notice it before. Towards the end of the game when the Celts were shooting on the Laker side of the court, it looked like Turiaf (who was at the end of the bench) would toss a  white towel in the air just as a celtic was tossing the free throw, he progressed to tossing the towel to someone siting behind the end of the court, then eventually they had two towels going back and forth when a Celtic was about ready to release the ball. I know fans do this all the time, but it's the first time I've seen an opposing player consistently try to disrupt the free throw. I don't like it when fans do it, but think it's bush when a player does it. Does this happen all the time? Or were the lakers that desperate?

Ive never seen that happen before, but I dont think it is too much of a big deal.  I guess it is similar to the Celtics bench getting in the ear of whoever is shooting a three.

Funny,

My friend pointed that out in the 4th quarter.
I don't like it when players do stuff like that either, I'm pretty sure technically its supposed to result in a technical.

However, if you watched the Celtics bench during the game, any time a player took a jump shot near them they would clap or yell or do whatever else they can think of.

Just stating it to be fair.

The Celtics play games among themselves during practice trying anything to distract a guy from taking free throw.

The Lakers did that in Game 2 too, late while Pierce was at the line.

I noticed it, but I think it's part of the game. You do all you can in order to the other team miss shots...

Tossing the towel during FTs is almost as old as the league itself, I remember seeing players do it when I was a little kid and my mom telling me "guys have been doing that forever".

Ya, Turiaf was doing while the Lakers were in Boston.

the c's on the bench getting in the shooters ears worried me, if a ref wants to call it a T, he easily could - alot of times it looks like the guys are breaking the plane of the court as well - I get that the guys want their team to win, but if at a critical moment it happened, that could be awful (sort of like how after a foul we always goaltend the shot on a non-continuation, I'm worried they'll call a continuation one of these times resulting in a 3 pt play)

Yeah, I think its in response to Celtic bench antics.
