I apologize IF there is a thread about this already.  I haven't been up long and haven't perused all the threads yet.

Can someone please provide the youtube link for the blatant foul by Kobe on the steal of PP that SHOULD have had PP shooting 2 FTs to tie up the game?

Thanks,

Smitty

Ugh....such a foul.  Once again Kobe is given the benefit of the doubt over PP.

I'm sorry, but this was definitely not a foul. Put down your green shades.

P2 you might want to brush up on the rules..you could argue that it was a good no call (not an argument someone impartial would make) but, to say it wasn't a foul is simply incorrect..but thanks for playing anyway

How is creating a steal without touching the ball not a foul?

It is fine if the refs wanted to "let the play" but it is pretty hard to watch that clip and not see a player get beat, reach in, not touch the ball at any point - yet make contact with the offensive player and hence cause a change in possession.

That is basically the definition of a foul and it is all there in the tape. I was fine with the no call, though I dont like when they bail out reaching defenders, but if that was d. fish doing that the play would have been blown a foul (in my opinion)

To me, Kobe clearly poked the ball away and didn't even touch Pierce, maybe just a little bit, which shouldn't warrant a foul.

really? i was under the impression that at some point you had to make contact with the ball instead of the players body to avoid the reach in foul.

guess we play by diffrent rules....

not that i expected it to be called, refs don't call those unless the guy falls over in the last 2 minutes, and that wasen't the reason they held on, we needed some stops before that and didnt get them.

There was some contact, it seems though that Bwyant did tip the ball away....

not seeing a whole lot of ball contact thier, there is a whole lot of body/ elbow contact, as i saw on abc's slow mo replay.

but thats beside the point, we didn't deserve this call, and i'd have been disapointed in the refs if we did get it. that didnt lose us the game, spoting the lakers a 20 point edge, and then a 14 point edge, cost us the game.

we need to be more consistant with the defensive pressure, which luckly we tend to be at home.

last night we played great defense in bursts, but not all game.

yeah, there was a good slow mo from behind, and you could see that he never touched the ball, only the body.

but lets be honest, we needed not only a slow mo, but the right slow mo to be able to see that.  this isn't some star treatment issue, it was a tough call, it looked like a steal, and on top of that, they were letting them play tough defense.

it may have been a pivotal moment, but if celtics fans are going to complain about calls in that game, that is not the one to be trying to build a case on.  there were plenty of no calls that were far worse...like 6 seconds before that under the basket during the rebound.  or the possession before there where kobe jumped into pierce forcing the turnover.  those had as much of an effect on the outcome, just not the stinging burn of a breakaway dunk.

I don't think a referee was in a good enough position to judge whether or not there was contact with the ball or the body.  I think the baseline camera angle makes it look like there was no contact with the ball, but with how far the ball gets from Pierce after the contact, you'd expect that something pushed it, as I don't see a lot of players dribble the ball that far forward.  Also from Pierce's hand position in those stills it looks like he's trying to cross behind that pick and drive down the lane, but the ball goes to Odom on the 3 point line.

Either way, I don't think you can call it clean or a foul with the naked eye.  I'd say it was a good no call.
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

This was a foul by the rule book, but not one they're ever gonna call in that situation, even if the contact was visible to the refs, which it probably wasn't.  Whether Kobe would've got that call if he'd gotten stripped...well, hard to say.

Regardless, we make FTs and don't commit silly fouls, and this game isn't even close...
