I haven't seen any concrete info as to what this is all about ... does anyone know for sure or have a link? I assume that if it is diabetes and she was "rushed" to the hospital, that she was in insulin shock, (hypoglycemia), and if so, I pray it was taken care of quickly, as there can be many, many complications with the shock alone, including anaphylaxis, convulsions, coma, and death.
There can also be damage done to the heart muscle and other organs if not treated quickly, usually with ingestion of simple sugars, (candy bar or fruit juice), if the patient is conscious, followed by a meal of complex carbos, protein, etc., or, if the patient is unconscious, by rubbing sugar on the gums or under the tongue, or preferrably with stat IV glucose.
It sounds as if whatever it was they were right on top of it, and if it is concerning diabetes, that's the key to limiting any long-term damage. Here's hoping all is well, and that she's in good hands and recovering well. Our thoughts and prayers with you, Ray ... and your family.
