With the game at its tightest, a NBA referee currently under investigation by the FBI for extending a playoff series to benefit the NBA and their financial needs, calls back to back off the ball calls on Garnett and Pierce, giving them both 5 each. This pull Pierce off of Kobe and opens the lane. In fact 4 calls were called between the 4 minute and 3 minute mark of the fourth, 3 of which were off the ball and unseen on camera, which happen on every play on both ends of the floor.

After the Lakers extending their lead somewhat, the Celtics play more tough defense, fight through many obvious fouls on rebounds that are not called and down by two with under a minute to go an obvious reach around foul that is called even at the jr.high school level goes undetected by above mentioned ref, and Kobe gets a breakaway dunk

In my opinion, when Pierce grabbed that rebound before the so-called Kobe "steal" play, pierce got absolutely mugged by Odom and Gasol under the hoop and no call. Then, on the dribble up the court by Pierce, Gasol blatantly grabs KGs jersey right before he goes to set the pick and kobe reaches in.

Luckily we are heading to Boston. Home teams in this series are getting allowed to get away with alot. This is why Lakers whining about officiating was annoying. It more then evened itself out in LA. Difference is C's have yet to use the refs as an excuse and have won a road game.

We got mugged under the basket all game. PJ pushed off Pau every now and then, but you can't say Pau never does the same. We should've been at the line a lot more then we actually were, i think.

My issue wasn't so much that they called fouls on KG and Pierce, it is when Kobe did the same thing, they didn't call it allowing him to get a huge dunk to put the Lakers easily in control.

i dont know about you guy, but every single free throw tonight from the lakers pau was pushing kg under the basket and thats why kg couldnt grab a clean rebound too often, when pau was all over his back and slapping the ball around with his woman hands

wouldnt really count on that in game six, bet we get a very neutral crew. which is fine with me, but no way are we getting a favorable home team ref crew like tonight.

also, and let me preface this by saying i think he just missed the call, but way to give the press and fans ammo for a huge conspiracy theroy NBA. You have a ref out there who is or was under investigation for possabley fixing games for the home team, and not only do you give him this game, but he calls a questionable off the ball call on KG with 3 minutes left, and then lets a blatant reach that touched nothing but arm (the one time super slo mo was useful, thanks abc.) lead to the dagger for the home team.

again, i don't think anything shady went on, but how arrogant and stupid do you have to be to put him out there and now give the media/ fans another thing to hang thier hat on. you have 50 officals, you couldn't have skipped baretta for the last three games and not givin them fuel fo rthe fire?

I agree the refs were poop tonight, but as NBA fans we all knew it was coming.  We should have won the game anyway.

What I really liked about the 95 mph pass was how, after throwing that piece of krap pass, Kobe was screaming at Gasol like he should have caught it.  Just another example of what a POS Kobe is.

I guess that foul was the 2nd time Kobe wasn't found guilty for rape.

But like it says on the main page it should not have gotten to that point. The C's were aggressive. It just came down to some poor passes, turnovers, and missed free throws.

Let's be real, did anyone actually think we were going to win the game with Mr. " extend the series to make more money for his company" refereeing?

Both teams attempted 31 free throws.  Both teams had 28 fouls called on them.  I honestly do not think you can ask for much more.

It may have been even in fouls, but in the last 3-4 minutes, every call went the lakers way. KG and Pierce being called for ticky tacky ones back to back, then pierce has to come off Kobe on D. Pierce gets hammered when he grabs that rebound that leads to kobe steal.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
So, the staff was discussing this, and was wondering who exactly made this thread "official"?  :P

I blame Doc.

I just hope the feds are smart enough to realize that if you take the two best defenders on a team out of the game with foul trouble then the other team will be able to extend the series.

I somehow doubt they are that smart though. Probably a probe of appointees that have never watched a sporting event in their life.

I've always been curious what a CB staff meeting looks like, I picture a crescent shaped board table, big comfy leather chairs, everyone gathered around, and Roy in a chair backwards to the rest, only one hand visible, sort of like Dr. Claw on Inspector Gadget....
