Just want to wish everyone out there a happy fathers day. seeing doc's press conference friday made me reflect on my close relationship with my own father, and my relationship with my son.  for those fortunate enough to have their fathers in their lofe, tell him how much he means to you.  cherish the time you have with one another.

Yeah, I need a new drill.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Yes, Happy Father's Day to all the fathers and fathers-to-be on the blog.  Make sure you all teach your kids the fundamentals; they could be the next Scalabrine!

With all the Celtics who have had children this year (Rondo, Pierce, Powe, Perk, Posey, KG, I think Scal, etc., etc.), let's hope they make tomorrow night a memorable one.

Amen to all sentiments expressed here.

I know I'm thrilled about the possibility to see our boys grab ultimate glory while I sit next to The Guru on Father's Day.

Happy Father's Day to all!

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there ... and the grandfathers, fathers-to-be, uncles, foster dads, and even those who may not be dads, but have had to take on the role anyway ... all the best, and here's hoping we all get to celebrate with a Celtic Championship ... what could be much better? For me, I was just asked to walk my oldest down the aisle in August, and that's about as good as it gets! Something I wanted to share:

           My Dad's Hands

Bedtime came, we were settling down,
I was holding one of my lads.
As I grasped him so tight, I saw a strange sight:
My hands. . .they looked like my dad's!

I remember them well, those old gnarled hooks,
there was always a cracked nail or two.
And thanks to a hammer that strayed from its mark,
his thumb was a beautiful blue!

They were rough, I remember, incredibly tough,
as strong as a carpenter's vice.
But holding a scared little boy at night,
they seemed to me awfully nice!

The sight of those hands - how impressive it was
in the eyes of his little boy.
Other dads' hands were cleaner, it seemed
(the effects of their office employ).

I gave little thought in my formative years
of the reason for Dad's raspy mitts:
The love in the toil, the dirt and the oil,
rusty plumbing that gave those hands fits!

Thinking back, misty-eyed, and thinking ahead,
when one day my time is done.
The torch of love in my own wrinkled hands
will pass on to the hands of my son.

I don't mind the bruises, the scars here and there
or the hammer that just seemed to slip.
I want most of all when my son takes my hand,
to feel that love lies in the grip.

Just wanted to send a shout out to all the dads out there to have a very happy Father's Day and wish we all get the Father's Day present we all know we want, new underwear!!!

No, just kidding, I meant of course a 17th NBA Basketball Championship.

You know my father was hugely instrumental in making me a sports fan but probably not in the way most were. We lived very, very poorly in a poor city and my dad did everything he could to advance himself and us by working two jobs and going to school to get his degree at the same time. He never had time for us kids.

But he always said it was good if I liked sports and never discouraged my watching or participating in them. If there was a game I wanted to watch(early on Bruins...then Celtics'74, Red Sox'75 and Pats'76) I was allowed to. He gave me money to go to Fenway and sit in the bleachers with my buddies. The playoffs were always a must see and even if it was past bedtime I was allowed to stay up.

And never once shared sports with me or watched or helped me play, but he always encouraged it.

Happy Father's Day, dad!!

Let's go Celtics and being a huge Tiger fan, Go Tiger, too!!

June 5th was Father's Day here in Denmark.
It was the first time I couldn't buy a gift
for my dad. He died from cancer on April 5th.
I don't think I have to say I miss him...

So to all of you out there who still have your
dads in your lives:
Give him a call and tell him that you love him.

I want to wish you all a Happy Father's Day and
a game for the ages tonight.

NOW LET'S GO GET THAT BANNER!
