In Phil Jackson's press conference today he said that Kobe will be motivated by KG's comments after game 4 . What did KG say that he thinks is going to get kobe all fired up?

Phil is delusional , I think he might have took one to many bong hits at halftime cause he forgot he had derek fisher a vet PG who had 13 pts on his team and only played him 25 mins, instead of fisher he went with a young inexperienced Jordan Farmar . Not to mention the timeout situation at the end of the game....

I believe Kg said something along the lines of " i felt that in the second half, Kobe tried to do alot more scoring, which let us double a bit more of their shooters"

I seriously think thats the qoute....if thats Phil's "bulletin board" material, he's grasping at straws.

thats seriously the only time i can remember KG mentioning kobe.

Apparently, Da Zen Mistress wouldn't reveal the supposedly irksome comments.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) -Zen-master Phil Jackson was at it again Friday, trying to motivate star Kobe Bryant after the Lakers' unprecedented collapse in Game 4 of the NBA finals.

Reaching into the Celtics' postgame comments for bulletin board material, Jackson cited comments by Kevin Garnett that would probably attract Bryant's interest.

The problem: Jackson wouldn't elaborate.

"They're in the transcripts if you want to read the transcripts,'' was all the coach would say.

But nothing in the transcript really seems all that inflammatory.

Garnett did say that he was so close to his first championship that he "can taste it''; but he also made the requisite disclaimer that there was more work to be done.

Garnett also said the Lakers weren't as aggressive in the in the second half as the first half, an analysis that was repeated by many at Staples Center after Boston rallied from a 24-point deficit to win 97-91 and move within one victory of the NBA title.

"Usually the first half is team ball, second half is usually Kobe takes over the games,'' Garnett said. "It just looks like they wanted to get the ball to Kobe and him sort of finish it off. ... We were giving Kobe every look we've got in the book, from different matchups to trapping him to a guy on the bottom. We were just making other guys make plays.''

Jackson said he didn't think Bryant would be motivated by the news that Paul Pierce wanted to guard him in the second half on Thursday night.

"That's not going to be as much of an interest point to him as probably what Garnett said,'' Jackson said. "And that'll probably weigh (more) strongly with Kobe, than that aspect, that Pierce wanted to guard him.''

shaq ain't walking through that door phil, nor micheal, scottie, or even rodman. Your goign to have to do better than snide comments.

man, Phil is desparate right now..... Why doesn't he bring up Ray and Kobe not liking each other from way back to fire Kobe up.... Phil's legacy is dropping like a rock just like Kobe's is right before our eyes.

  • The good ole days.
If anything, that sounds like a compliment that an indictment by KG.  He is one of Kobe's few friends in this league (supposedly) so I don't think he'd say anything negative about him in the middle of a series against him.

Well I hope he's mad about nothing. And jacks up shots all night long and tries to beat the Celtics by himself.

the only thing i can think phil is hinting at, and i spent way to much time coming up with this angle, is that KG was saying kobe hogged the ball.

i guess he could be trying to imply that to avoid what he sees as an inevitable "im kobe , screw you guys you lost me the last game, im taking 40 shots against this team" outburst? ???

but really, i don't know, thats just all i could puzzle out.

For somebody who's supposed to be a genius and the best coach ever, Jackson seems to be pretty desperate and looks likes he's grasping at straws.

I think it is either what you have above (ie: a clever roundabout way of encouraging Kobe to keep passing the ball to the open guy), or Phil taking umbrage with the "i can taste it" comment, which, by the way, was way out of context.  The reporter badgered KG to say it, and it came with all sorts of qualifiers.
Celtics fan for life.

The Zen Master's slide is inevitable.  The dude's spent too long in L.A. dude.

Boy that valley brand must be some really potent ganja for Phil to read an insult into what KG said at the press conference. Hey Phil, little advise, put the bong down and step away from the stash. it's starting to effect your professionalism.

I mean he had to be stoned out of his mind between the 3rd and 4th quarters to have looked so much like Jeff Spicoli.

"Phil, how did the Celtics make that run on your team"

"I don't man, how'd they do that? Oh, you want me to answer that, it's not one of those rehistorical questions, man? Umm let's see how'd they do that....wait how'd who do what? Wait man I know, you want a hit huh. Well, I gotta go to White Castle first and then we can spark.  Oh wait, look man, a basketball game"

Phil....world to Phil.... KG was just mentioning what looked like your offensive game plan in the second half. If he was insulting anyone, it was you, you bozo.
