If Perkins can't go, I'd start Big Baby, here si why:

1. Big baby is a gamer, he;ll perform

2. Pau Gasol is a Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.

3. Big Baby played some great D on both Duncan and Ilglauskus this past year becasue he would get up under them and they couldn't get anywhere near the basket. He can definately do this against Pau Gasol.

4. On the offensive side, there is no way Gasol can stay in front of Big Baby.

Garnett on Odom, Big baby on Gasol.

I'm confused, Baby should start because Pau is a 4 star player?

I'd start PJ, bring Powe and Baby off the bench then go smallball if/when needed with Posey

I'd start Powe. I bet that is what Doc will do - or maybe PJ Brown.

Hmmmm .... that's not a bad idea. In fact I like it a lot.

Start Glen Davis and give him about 10 minutes of game time, more if he's playing well. Keep all the bench players in their present roles. PJ is still in PJ's role. Powe still in Powe's role. Posey can be used for small ball which was effective against the Lakers. Starting Davis keeps more balance in the regular rotations. The guys that come off the bench for Perk normally can shoulder some additional minutes without going anything crazy. It would be better for PJ's older legs too.

My only question is could Davis do a good defensive job on Gasol? Gasol would easily be able to shoot over him in the post. Gasol is a finesse post player which is very different to the guys BBD normally does well against. Davis defends the post well because he can use his heft to stop phyiscal post players from getting close to the basket like they normally do. Gasol on the other hand is more comfortable shooting 2-4 feet further out and usually scores in the post by just shooting over the opponent. Then again Gasol regularly struggles in the post when his rhythm is broken, for example a physical defender bumping him, instead of going up strong he throws up soft shots which are easier to effect by physical play so maybe Glen could do a good job.

It'd also be easier for Davis to play next to the four starters than in the second unit because they do all the complicated stuff and will make the game easier for him.

I'd be happy giving Glen a shot to start the game if Perk can't go. If Davis struggles early don't bother starting him in the second half. Nobody was planning on 20 minutes anyway so it won't make much of a difference. But if he can give you 10 solid minutes it would lessen the burden on the other big men.

if Perks couldnt start
Doc will start PJ
but play Powe a lot
and maybe 10 minutes during 2nd quarter for BBD

even tough I agree that play him with 4 starters minimize his weakness and Kg minimize the lack of size but thats Powes thing too.
