This series is not over but if last night was the clincher, who would be the MVP? It is so close

Allen - 20ppg, 6rpg, 2.8apg, 52% fg
Pierce - 19 ppg, 4.5rpg, 5 apg, 45% fg
Garnett - 17.5ppg, 12.5rpg, 3.5apg, 38% fg

It will be Pierce.  He has had the bigger moments.  He asked for Kobe and beat him.

Media members/voters eat that type of stuff up.

Allen has been HUGE, but I'm going with Paul too.  If he doesn't shut down Kobe, he goes off and we don't win that game.  Plus like wdleehi said, he has had the bigger moments as well.  But that defense on Kobe..... 8)

Whomever gets the MVP should, when handed the trophy, put it on the floor and call everyone over and as a team gather togather. No MVP on this team, they have pulled togather all season and worked as a team and it should not stop now.

TP for that one.  I don't really know how you decide who the Most Valuable Player is.  If we win this series we couldn't have done it without any of the big 3 or the contributions of so many guys off the bench.

It's a shame really that an individual will be put ahead of the team in the end.

i think everyone is on the court together with the Championship trophy when the MVP is finally called.

i vote for Pierce... the celts won each time he scored double digits. He is also responsible for the dominating 3rd quarters...

I'm with ya - if the series ended last night, Allen with Pierce as a close second.
God bless and good night!

Allen - 20ppg, 6rpg, 2.8apg, 52% fg
Pierce - 19 ppg, 4.5rpg, 5 apg, 45% fg
Garnett - 17.5ppg, 12.5rpg, 3.5apg, 38% fg

None of this is a knock on Ray. But if Ray wins MVP (and doesnt have some huge performance in atleast two more games) It would be like Parker winning it over duncan. Stats are irrelevant in my opinion.

PP won us game one, Basically won us game two (the free throws and blocked shot ridiculously efficient O) had a crap game in game 3 and we lost. And along with Ray/Pose carried us home last night.

The thing that makes PP more valuable though is he does it with twice as much attention paid to him as Ray gets. PP makes the game easier for his teammates (atleast in 1,2,& 4) Ray has been great, but he doesnt effect the games we have won anywhere near as much as paul does.

KG - defensively has been a beast....and I do love how this team really is a team. I like the "call the team over to the MVP trophy idea" for whoever wins it

It is a toss up between Ray and Paul.  If we win I'll be hoping for Ray because I picked him in our pick the MVP thread  :)

I'd also be ecstatic for Paul.  He should get it simply for being with this team for as long as he was been.  A true Celtic forever.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

As of today I'd give it to both of them.  The foundation for the comeback was laid in the middle of the 3Q when you could see Pierce showing the same kind of steely determination that he had Game 7 vs. Cleveland.  He started going HARD to the hoop and defensively he just really got in lock down mode.  Remember the block on Kobe? In order for a comeback like that to happen, at some point, someone needs to start making big plays and Pierce was the guy who got the ball rolling in that regard.

But I'll also never forget the way Allen showed his class as a player down the stretch.  He also got into the zone where you could see exactly why he's been a great player for so many years.

Both of them needed to play leadership roles and man, did they ever.  And up till last night, they had played equal roles in the C's success to date.

The rest of the series may change that up a bit, but as of today I think you have to say it's a tie in the 'MVP race'.
