The NBA has a serious issue here.

Stern needs to do something better then what he has been saying.

This is a disaster.

Stern's going to get ousted over this if it comes out he had any knowledge of it at all.

I hope it blows up if it's true. It's the only way to start over again.

Burn the whole thing down.

FG/.

you think stern is aragont enough to ignore this and use dick in a game this series? he's due soon in the rotation.

I am not sure Stern is going to look good either way, true or untrue.

He has always handled accusations against the league and refs (as well as player fines and suspensions) with an air of smugness and a vibe of "I'm the commissioner and what I say goes". Even if the allegations are false, he may not do enough to clear the league's name due to him believing that he shouldn't have to defend or justify himself.

I thought admitting the blown Fisher call against the spurs was a step in the right direction (as well as the Crawford suspension), but I'm still not convinced.

As far as Dick, I think that is exactly the type of thing Stern would do IMHO. He had Crawford reffing that Spurs game, right?

As much as this is not great public relations news for the NBA this report is of questions asked a year ago and as of yet the federal authorities have done nothing publicly against the league. If there was more to the story I am sure something would have come out sooner than almost a year later.

Stern has a public relations disater on his hands due to the questions this brings towards the integrity of the game, however, until the government comes out with hearings on the matter or public investigations, everything is just smoke from two guys that may have alterior motives.

When the government is done, Stern needs to get an independent investigator to look at this.  Most will not believe a Stern lead investigation that they are talking about.

I can actualy see them sitting on it, look at the vick case. by all accounts they sat on that for 4 years, building up evidence.

The goverment doesn't like to be embarrsed, they sit on things slowly building cases for as long as they feel thiers something thier.

look at bonds, while we certainly knew about the purgery charge in 2003, they JUST NOW brought the hammer down.

I was just listening to WEEI and they were reading an article about a retired referee who said that what the league does is have an NBA official speak to the refs just before a game and tell them something like, "Paul Pierce is doing a lot of traveling lately, watch out for that" and then Paul might get a few traveling calls at key junctures of the game against him.  I remember JB talking about this on CSL.

Wow.  The NBA needs a serious overhall.  Hopefully it starts with the ouster of that smug arrogant fool, Stern.

I wonder if this should be merged with the Donaghy thing.

In the mean time even if this guy had never been caught the NBA would still have the biggest image problem with their refs and I wonder why that is. Football refs blow calls all the time, and so do baseball guys but you don't have nearly the reaction from fans and i wonder why not

why is that every time my team gets on the big stage, something tries to upstage it? we have the red sox fighting air time with boras and a-rod (and the nitwits at fox letting arod and boras win), tomasse and his made up story about the walk though in SB 36, now this.

Absolutely.  I fully expect Bavetta to be reffing game 5....or game 6 if they think he's gonna overcompensate because of these rumors.
