Can someone tell me why KG and Powe can't play together?

I know Powe usually comes in as a replacement for KG ,but IMO a combination of Powe and KG in the low post would give the Lakers defense fits . Powe can Play Odom and KG on Gasol on defense. I am not saying play this combo 40 mins together , but 15 mins would be nice. I just really think it would benefit the team greatly.

That's a good question. I don't know the answer.

I know that KG plays much better basketball when he's out on the floor next to legitimate defensive presence, someone who is shot blocking presence and is big enough to defend the opposing team's big post player (has enough heft to push them off the post). It allows him to more room to help off his man defensively, to take more chances. PJ Brown and Kendrick Perkins both allow him to do that and to a smaller degree Glen Davis (more the heft part). It also saves KG more using more energy fighting in the low post defensively when he's not on centres.

I don't know what the reason is but that's my best guess. How much does it apply to this series with LA's odd pairing of Odom and Gasol? I'm not sure. Celtics have gotten a lot of advantages by using their muscle in the paint, do they lose that with KG-Powe? Again I'm not sure. The help defense is still relevant for Los Angeles though. It makes life a lot tougher for Kobe Bryant to get in the paint when KG is out there with a second defensive anchor like Perkins.

Good question. Leon and KG played very well together during the regular season. Leon would get tons of open shots or mismatches because teams would help out on KG. We know Powe can finish so it just makes sense on both sides of the floor.

They were on the court together for 1:32 of the 2nd quarter, and 4:12 of the 4th quarter in Game 2.  In the combined 5 minutes and 44 seconds, the scored was 18-11 Lakers (not including made 2nd free throws after the substitution bring KG/Powe in).

Don't think it means a ton, as under 6 minutes is not much to work from, but it appears Leon was more effective playing with Rondo, Ray, and Pierce so that the Lakers defense was more focused on the perimeter.

hahahaah - yeah Powe may have a restraining order on KG, cannot get within 5 feet at any time...

well neither guy is a low post offense player (kg isn't), ie spacing
our team is better is kg doesn't guard a true center let perk and pj do that
those are the only things i can think of, i've given up trying to figure out docs rotations (sam!)

Didn't they play together just yesterday? And I believe it has happened before.

I don't feel very conformable without one of Perks/PJ in the floor, unless we're going small, and, if that's the case, then I prefer Posey.

But Powe can't play many minutes, with or without KG, unless he's scoring points or drawing fouls. In the last game, he wasn't doing either.

Cause one guy is too small to play center and the other guy largely won't.

All rotation questions come down to the same answer...Doc Rivers is our coach... Thats why KG and Powe cant play together.
