No Powe - No Win

Powe earned the right in game 2 to play a bigger role in game 3 - instead Doc gives him a miniscule role.  When few Celtics were playing with energy, you would think doc would use his "igniter" to get something going.

Doc need to find at least 15 minutes for Powe. Not saying he needs major minutes but find he at least 12-15 minutes. Cassell got more minutes than him last night and Cassell shouldn't be playing at all. I don't know why he won't play Powe with Garnett? Anyone got an answer?

The problem is Doc's love for all things experience.  It's an error many coaches make, but Doc takes it to the nth degree.

PJ is the one blocking his minutes.  I actually disagree with OP on one point. Powe didn't earn minutes in game 2.  He earned it all season long by being one of the most productive bench big men in the league.  Then PJ got signed and away it went.

The only reason he got burn in game 2 was because Perk got in early foul trouble and still seemed a bit hobbled by the ankle.  So PJ came earlier than usual, and Powe had to fill in his normal rotations. 

PJ is the problem people.  He had a nice couple of games in Boston when we needed him to.  He had a couple good ones in CLE too.  He got completely torched the entire Detroit series, but Doc never made the adjustments. 

PJ should avg ~8 mpg.  Should just provide rest and fill in if there's foul trouble.  But Doc loves "experience" and doesn't mind seeing him kill our offensive flow, fail to crash the defensive glass, and get worked by Gasol after Perk had been eating his soul the entire game.

TP cmoney. PJ is solid, but I question if he is a "difference maker" like Leon can be. PJ should only be getting six or seven minutes IMO. And Cassell, that situation is so far beyond crazy now it's laughable. He had to take the stupidest 3-point attempt in history last night before Doc took him out. Even the dimwit announcer(yes, I know his name) was making fun of Sam shooting every time he touches the ball.
Anyway, the C's played about as poorly as they can(except for Ray Allen, thank goodness he found his shot) and still almost beat Kobe and the three amigos- I mean the refs, not the Euro three point guys.

I don't blame Doc in this one.  He put Leon in, but he didn't get the calls (idiot refs)... So I  think in this game Powe didn't have the effect Doc expected.

leon got hammered on six succesive attempts to go inside with no call. Doc could smell which way the wind was blowing, and that it was "were not calling anything for "pow!" feel free to hack/reach.

there was no way in this world that powe was getting any kind of call last night. the only one he did get he only got because the guy pulling on his arm fell down and yanked him over with him.

Comparing Cassell and Powe are apples and oranges, unless you want Powe playing PG...that's like getting an Apple Julius, doesn't sound too appealing does it?

As expected the Lakers were prepared for Powe's limited game in game 3. He'll get another shot in game 4, I'm sure. But lets not get carried away with what kind of player Powe is. He's an undersized energy guy, that can get things going when the opponent doesn't pay close attention to him. I'm glad he is on the team. But he is not the answer people. Better play from KG and Pierce is the answer.

How do you explain playing 6 minutes last night? Doesn't Doc have control of that? And isn't Doc responsible for putting Cassell in the game?

He used Powe and nothing was ignited. Powe did not contribute. Yes, if Powe would have contributed more, it would have been great. But he was ineffective.

I would like to see Powe in when House is in. Powe also might have been more effective when Kobe was sitting. Nevertheless, not playing Powe didn't mean much since we played fine during the time that he would have been in (end of 3rd to beginning of 4th).

Obviously since Perk was playing a decent game, Leon should have EATEN up KG's stagnant minutes...

Those 20 footer's KG missed? Leon woulda had drilled them.

I agree completely. Powe should have been in this game just as Eddie House should have been playing all playoffs. They are both huge spark players and they play the uptempo hustle bust your butt basketball that this team was so successful with all season. The last two nights were perfect examples. Powe goes in the game: they go up by 20+, they take him out in the fourth, they almost loose the game. Last night Rondo gets hurt and Eddie House comes in down by what, 7 or 9 points? Doc takes House out and they end up loosing the lead and eventually the game. I just dont understand what Doc is doing out there.
