What do you guys make of this? Kneejerk reaction? The right call? Because of Rondo's ankle? It was odd to see Doc going with Eddie for so long.

When House went in in the third, the Celtics established KG in the low post.  Worked well

They just didn't do it enough the 4th quarter.

He went with Eddie because of Rondo's ankle. Sam had another typical "shoot myself out of the game while not playing defense" night and so I think he gave Eddie the opportunity. He shot poorly (2-8) but hit a couple big threes. He had 3 boards, a couple assists, and a steal with no turnovers. This is the point though. Even if he is shooting badly he hustles on defense and does other things. He didn't cost us the game. He actually played pretty well other than not hitting as many as we'd like.

I thought going with Eddie House was the right move, Eddie just didn't make enough shots for us.

Rondo can score sometimes if he gets into the pain with penetration or off of offensive put backs (1 time in the 4th quarter), but he wasn't going to be scoring much at all with that hurt ankle.

Eddie was just playing well. The spacing was better and the movement offensively was quicker, both ball and player movement. The team responded better when Eddie was on the floor.

I don't think it had anything to do with Rondo's ankle. The team just played it's best ball when Eddie was out there.

EDDIE didn't make enough shots for us?! KG and PP didn't make enough shots for us!!! Don't blame that loss on him! He played very well other than his shooting. His shots other than the one towards the end that he HAD to force up there were open and in the flow. Blame the 2 stars. THEY lost this game for us...

I was happy as hell to see Eddie in there.  He hit a big 3 in the 3rd.  He had his shots, but didn't hit them.  In no way a bad call.  Celts didn't hit their shots (except for Ray)
Yup

That was kinda my initial concern. Our spacing will always be better with Eddie (or Sam) than Rondo because you have to guard them out on the line, but Rondo brings a lot more to the table (defense, rebounding, passing). I know I'm most likely overreacting, but the thought crossed my mind that, if it wasn't the ankle, that Doc would play Eddie a lot more for spacing reasons.

Now the question is how to hurt the Lakers for allowing Bryant to rest on and roam off Rondo, other than giving all of Rajon's minutes to House. That said, I was glad to see House back in to close the game. I would've preferred if Rivers had never taken him out. (He's got fresh legs...)

Let Rondo attack off the dribble.

more important, establish deep low post position.

When the post player receives the ball, attack quickly before Kobe can double.

Eddie missed some makeable shots that were open.

But he's put in a tough spot....playing next to nothing minutes in the playoffs and then being asked to close out a game on the road in the NBA Finals.

It's tough.

PP and KG need to make some [dang] shots....they just didn't even do an ok job on the offense end.

This really is a missed opportunity for the C's.

The next game the Lakers will be playing with much less stress and anxiety....the pressure is off of them.

C's on the other hand need to figure out how to score in the 4th quarter.

When you have scoring options like PP, KG, and RA there should absolutely be no reason why you can't score effectively in the 4th quarter.

How about the 4 on 2 break that he pulled up and got us nothing out of? Don't you want a playmaking PG out there in the 4th?

I'm not sure. Rondo hasn't been finishing around the rim all that well in these playoffs (43%). And it wasn't coincidence that Garnett only established himself on the block in the third with House at PG and Allen advancing the ball, spacing was night and day. Five of his six baskets made while with that back court.

But, yeah, it's true that Eddie can look awfully uncomfortable on the break.

You are suggesting that KG or someone else should immediately go to the hoop? KG won't do this, or won't do it enough or as often as he should. So how do you get the job done? Perk was solid in the post tonight. Powe has been good too. I am at a loss. I think we just aren't capable of doing this.

ill take house any day than old Cassell. the issue is that he takes too long brining the ball up. they had screens set for him early 3rd and it worked, but they went away from that in 4th Q. if he can't bring the ball let ray bring it up, or just set screens for him. house spaces the floor for KG, and that crucial.
