Money Pouring in on Cs?

It is rare that Las Vegas would set the odds for an NBA Championship at three-to-one. Even with the Celtics up one game-to-none, in a seven game series the best you would get at the sports books is probably two-to-one.
But three-to-one are truly Hall of Fame odds for this series.

In an earlier post, I noted the Cs, while favored to win game one, were not favored to win the series unless it went 7 games. The Ls were prohibitive favorites if the series went 4 or 5 games. Overall, the Ls started the series as 2-1 favorites.

Now the Cs are 3-1 favs? Money must be pouring in on the Cs at Vegas.

My take is the winner of tonight's game takes home the hardware.

I'm a little wishy washy on tonight's game, sadly.

The Ls are a little better than I expected. I know, I know. What the heck do I mean by that? I just wasn't buying all the purple hype. But the Ls played pretty well in game 1, much better than they admit playing.

If Ray Ray can come up big and be the go to guy, if Pierce can play big in a supporting role, if KG can take it the paint like he did on 12/30 at staples, and if we get one big game from Rondo or Powe, we'll win.

Otherwise, it may probably will be a struggle.

3-1 odds? I bet Barkley wished he hadn't quite betting now, because I'm sure he would have to drop $400,000 on his boy Koby, putting his money where his mouth is, as they say. RIGHT? 

I just don't understand those odds though. I mean, the odds are that Koby is not going to have four poor shooting percentage games in a row against these underdogs tonight, of 35% again. RIGHT?

Plus the Lakers have "The Zen Master", Right?

And the better bench "The Mob", will be the deciding edge to the Lakers, RIGHT?

But the more I stare at that backboard suporting stantion, I just don't know...

For what its worth, tradesports has 56% chance Lakers win the whole thing, 44% Celtics win (prior to Game 1 it was about 62% Lakers).

Also, tradesports expects Lakers to win game two (53% chance).

Bettors figures LA can't lose two in a row because they are so vastly superior?

I'm placing monopoly money *wink* on the Lakers just to jinx myself and ensure a kind of consolation prize should the C's lose. The site I pretend *wink* to game with still has the Lakers as 1.4-1 favorites. I WISH i could find someone who had the C's favored.

Yeah, whomever wrote the article for the daily links about the Cs favored 3-1 to win it must have been smoking something.

After reading it and then posting it above, I did the same research as the rest of you and also see what appears to be pick 'em odds for the series.

Here's the straight scoop. I should know as I have the ticket to prove it.

1) Before Game 1, the Lakers were anywhere from -190 to -210 to win the series. I took back +170 with the C's.
2) Game 2: After the finish of the first game, the C's were opened as 2.5 pt. favorites. This was in light of the two injuries to the C's. The majority of the money has been on the Lakers since that time and as of 2 hrs. before game time, the Lakers are now favored by -1.5 to -2. Several large bookmakers that I know are absolutely loaded with Lakers action for tonight's game and are on the line for a ton if the Lakers cover.
3) It should be noted that even after losing game 1, the Lakers are still favored to win the series at -150.

Simply amazing the lack of respect for the Celtics. Am I missing something or are we legitimate underdogs in spite of everything we all know?

Per tradesports.com , there is now a 57% chance that the Celtics are the outright winners of the finals, but an 83% chance that the Lakers win the next game.  That 83% makes sense, given that the Cs will be playing a 5 on 8 game all night long...

The latest here in Vegas for game 3 has the Lakers opening as -8.5 favorites. It has since moved a point up to -9.5 in most casinos & offshore. (Tremendous value for C's backers IMO!) However the series money line has now shifted in favor of the Celtics at -145 with LA now the dog at +125. Boston at 3-1 sounds like mistaken information.
