from TrueHoop, perhaps the only good thing that falls under the ESPN umbrella (and Abbot's been doing it for years before joining the WWL, though despite reservations he's been able to keep doing his own thing)

Definitely worth a read to get a distanced medical opinion (and a little bball analysis) on PP's knee

He should get an MRI even if he's hell bent in playing, just so that they can treat the knee as appropiately as they are allowed.

But whatever, hopefully he doesn't kill his knee for good and the risk that he's taking ends up being worth it.

I agree, an MRI should be done. There's a part of me that thinks he might have gotten one during these offdays though they aren't announcing it.  It seems like the team and the medical staff would definitely insist on him having one just to see what the situation is but that they might keep it under wraps just to keep attention away from the whole PP/knee angle in the media. Just a thought but it makes sense to me.

If he did have an MRI, and I agree he should have had one and perhaps did, there is only one reason that it would not have been disclosed to the media. That one reason is that there is some degree of structural damage and they do not want the information made public. Public in the sense that if the Lakers know of some degree of vulnerability, they might further attack and exploit PP's situation beyond the current perception that it was just a mild sprain.

Surely, if he had an MRI and it was clean, there is no reason not to disclose that result.

Of course he should have MRI.  It is in his and the teamĀ“s best interest to know what is wrong with his knee in order for medical staff to treat it accordingly.  Shove the pride  and be a man....take the MRI no matter what.
