That was a smart move, stop playing in the 4th quarter. Now the Lakers will believe that they can keep playing the same way and be competitive.

It would be great to win one in LA, but we won't have the advantage of playing with tighter rims there, so it's going to be hard...

I hate small ball!!!

It happens everytime Doc uses that lineup. Was Powe playing bad?

Yeah, this is why people get down on Doc.  Powe wouldn't have helped much on perimeter defense, but he sure as heck could have helped on O.

Clutch by Paul.
Well, the Lakers stopped helping off of him, so he was no longer getting open layups, that's why he got pulled. His last 2 shots were airballs in traffic. The problem is not small ball. The problem comes when you stop playing. Unless of course you think that it's a good tactic to put Garnett, Powe or Perkins guarding Radmanovic in the corner.

Small ball never works. The other team always seems to go on scoring streak. So yes, I'd rather have Powe guarding Radmanovic because Radmanovic would have to guard Powe on the other end.

Wow. This team has really struggled with playing the score all year, and it happened again. Man, jump shot-happy, no ball movement and no defense, no rebounding whatsoever in the last six minutes.

If nothing else, they should have our attention going into game three. But we've got to finish a ballgame out, for crying out loud. Inexcusably bad last half of the fourth quarter.

They won the game so i'd say they finally finsihed it out. Of course though I agree that they need to stay focused and not let the game get away like that. I also think Doc can take some blame with not having Powe in, there was no reason not to have him out there.

mark jackson said during one of the comercial breaks when we made the run in the 3rd.
"that is why i predicted hornets to beat the lakers if they met, lakers are horrible defending pick and roll" refering to what rondo was doing to them.
sometimes we dont get the comercials here in saudi, so you can hear the commentators discussing things during the time out

Great game by Powe. Who was it here who pointed out months ago that if ypu give him at least 15 minutes, his production is excellent?

Fun fact: Doc is 2-0 in the Finals against Phil Jackson.

Side Note: Does anybody else think Phil Jackson looks like Col. Saunders?

41pts in the 4th quarter...are you serious?  No excuse for that.  We looked like a championship team the first 3 quarters and 5 minutes and the knicks for the final 7 minutes.

Up 24 with a little under 8 minutes to go?  That's awful.  A win is a win and I'm glad were up 2-0, but for me personally it really takes away some of the glamour for that win.  I hope Legler is right when he says that he doesn't think this will carry over to the next game.

Just gotta remind myself of the last series.  Almsot did the same thing in game 5 against Detroit and then the national media and fans here including myself said "uh oh, this could prove bad for the next game" and the exact opposite happened.

This is one of those wins where as a Boston fan it drives me nuts but I know for a fact that if I was a Laker fan I would NOT be thinking "We're still alive, we almost came back."  A loss is a loss and we're down 0-2.  Just wish I could think the same way for this win haha.

going forward, i want to see perk play like he did tonight...minus the bonehead fouls. other than that, he had 7 points and 3 boards in just 14 minutes. if he brings it in LA like he did in the detroit series, we're good.

it may seem wierd but if LA falls short this could really take more away from them then a blowout would have.

TP. I was thinking the very same thing. It takes a lot out of you both physically & mentally to make a come back on that big of a deficit only to fall short. Better to get blown out by 30, be ****ed, and conserve your energy for game 3. Everyone knows what happened after the Memorial Day Massacre.

Phil bashing the officiating in post game. I expect no calls in LA.

Phil Jackson at the mike:
Can't believe Leon Powe got more FTs than the entire Lakers team.  Then "misspeaks" next and says "In my entire career refing - sorry - coaching, I have never seen that." (Or words to that effect).

Implication: Celtics won because of referees.
Now, I will freely admit some calls went the Cs way, but clearly some calls also went the Lakers way.
Celtics fan for life.

well, i know i made this complaint in the Atlanta series:
Quote
i seem to remember a lot of games this year where powe had about 1 rebound in 5 minutes and finished the game with 7 and 7 or so in 15 minutes. he needs more time. danny has given doc too many options, and doc knows that if he loses with cassell and pj on the floor the media will give him a pass, even though having powe and house on the floor is what got us here.

Aha! Let the national media spin this the Lakers way, we can spin it our way here at CelticsBlog.

All kidding aside I absolutely agree with you guys.  Once I started breathing again I got to thinking that this might've been the best possible ending to the game for us.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

Great game! Lakers look like a 1-way team to me -- all offense. LA is soooo SOFT, it cracks me up!  ;D They played good D for the first half of the first quarter, that's it. I even called it that they couldn't keep up that kind of pressure all game and they were only up by 2. lol. I think the Lakers coming back when the Celts loosened up the clamps is good for them so now they can't just show up in Game 3 thinking they'll win again without any defensive effort (see Atlanta Series Game 3), not being a mentally and physically cohesive unit just because they are up 2-zip and blew the Lakers out by 20+ points.

Great game by Paul Pierce! I'm starting to seriously consider if he is just slightly better than Kevin Garnett if he keeps this up.  :)
