Didn't want to bash them too bad, so I picked a few of the more eloquent ones:

1.   this is the first game were the lakers actually got beat. the losses before in this years playoffs were all cause lakers just didn’t play well and gave game away. celtics took this one from lakers.

2.   What should make you nervous was that the Celtics missed a lot of open looks. KG, for example, shot terribly in the 4th. LA simply didn’t play the sort of defense that should lead the Celtics to shoot barely over 42% from the field.
Meanwhile, the Lakers were regularly chucking up contested jumpers. Kobe really got very few “bunnies” in the second half. That’s three bad shooting performances in a row for him vs. the C’s.

3.   I’m at a loss for words… we indeed gave up that 6-pt lead faster than Allen Iverson could run up and down the court. After that, the Celtics were steamrolling. Paul Pierce could have won an oscar on that “crippling” effects, seemingly putting the collective Boston unconscious to a big scare. Then he comes back (I swear I have nightmares of him pounding his chest) with such fire as if he was the Celtics savior. Is he?
We more or less hung in there… springing some life to the Lakers hope of eternal springs. Then KG slammed one down for the ages on a putback - and that’s the game.
We wrap up and take our disappointments to game 2. Boston merely held serve - but it was a game we had a very good chance of winning. Lets suck it up and channel all our anger towards game 2. That would be 1 game I would really really really really hate to lose.

4. 15.   While getting to the finals should be considered a great year considering all the uncertainties at the beginning, if the Lakers cant win this series, the year should be considered a failure. The Celtics are not that good and are not better then any of the top five teams in the West. The Lakers did much hard work to get here, it would be a shame to lose to this team. Last night was a game they should have won even playing as poorly as they did.

5.   Re: #15 - As a Celtics fan I have to laugh at comments like these. We’ve been hearing it ALL year long how the “Celtics are not that good,” and how the Celtics record would be much worse in the impossible Western Conference. News flash, buddy - the Celtics had a higher winning percentage against the West than the East. At what point will opposing fans give Celtics credit for doing the only thing that matters? Winning.
And you all wonder why Celts fans are insufferable ****s.

I couldn't help going over there myself. It's a guilty pleasure, especially after a win.

I was somewhat taken aback by a few posts essentially saying that this was the worst the Lakers could play and the best the Celtics could play. I can't speak on behalf of the Lakers, but that certainly wasn't the BEST the C's could play.

I do have to say that they seem like a pretty knowledgable fan base despite their purple tinted lenses.

Amen.  That's simply not the case.

If the Celtics aren't any better than any of the top 5 teams in the West, they have an odd way of showing it.

Maybe it just me but I really thing the whole "West" is over rated. Yes all 8 teams are very good teams, but I think the East had some really good teams this year. Boston and Detroit could take any of the teams out west. Philly and Cleveland are really good teams as well and Atlanta would put up a fight in the west as well.

If anything, I'd say both teams were up and down. Typical game 1: They were both just getting a feel for the other team. I expect a very different game overall on Sunday. Kobe will be better, and Kobe will have another stink bomb, but most games he'll be better. And KG will not miss 9 shots in a row again at any point in this series.

The Lakers really have to take game 2. Otherwise I can't see them taking 4 of 5, after 2 loses. What a fun game/series!!! I can't wait to see more!!! Go Celtics!

Why some of us still think Celtics  can win game No.2
Simple
Because w ehave been talking about lakers from 30 years
lakers forgot to talk about boston for a while
We know their weakness (a.k.a. Kobe hogs the ball) more than they know our stuff
They simply receive the hit, like a deer in the highway and i dont think they will be able to recover. ( fingers crossed)
Once a CrotorNat always a CROTORNAT  2 times CB draft Champion 2009-2012

Nice to be back!

I was expecting to see "paul is a faker" type snippets... They seem pretty down to earth and articulate.

I live in the LA area and everyone has the same opinion that Paul is either a faker or a baby.

My opinion is that Paul heard a pop (my knee makes a popping sound when I twist it a certain way) and he freaked out.  The trainer took precautionary measures with the wheel chair.  They realized it was a strain.  My heart started beating once again.

It will still effect him the rest of the serious.  He obviously hurt is to some degree.  He has a hockey player's attitude towards injuries.   He's the Anti-Vince Carter when it comes to pain.  Paul is the Wolverine of the NBA.

They have good posters over there, for the most part.  They are not, however, representative of most Lakers forums.

The folks over on the Lakers board at RealGM gives us no credit at all. I love reading the other team's fans post after they lose.

Paul is a warrior. Dude was stabbed 9 times in the summer of 2000, and still started the season on time and had a great year.
