Perkins was useless against the pick and role and was out of position numerous times. When Perk went down.. Doc had no other choice but to play PJ Brown extended minutes and he did a much better job of defending LA's bigs and clogged up the middle
See, this is why I'm not allowed to announce NBA games -- I'd be talking in the Cookie Monster voice right now:

Ahhhhhhhhhh ... my knee hurts ... ahhhhhhhhhhhhh ... me don't like when my knee hurts ...

The problem with the pick and roll was the whole defense, not just Perkins

JVG pointed out two times where Perkins did the right rotation only to have Posey not drop down to pick up Gasol.

The pick and roll was defended well the entire 2nd half by the whole team.

PJ stepped up great tonight.

But I expect to see more Perkins going forward.

It was the team defense on the pick and roll. There was no recognition that the Lakers are not going to pick and pop like every other team on the pick and roll. With Gasol, they actually pick and roll to the hoop. I thought it was adjusted to after Perk got hurt, but I think it was coincidence more than anything else. Perk keeping the ball active on offensive board. Saying that, PJ was outstanding and was a key down the stretch.
